Locked In Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Famke Janssen, Rose Williams, Alex Hassell, Finn Cole, Anna Friel
Director: Nour Wazzi
Locked In Movie Review ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
What’s Good: The film’s initial allure is undeniably captivating, immersing audiences in a gothic melodrama enriched by Nour Wazzi’s direction and the opulent setting. The clever twist of Katherine’s locked-in syndrome adds a unique layer to the mystery, initially promising an engaging plot.
What’s Bad: As the story progresses, “Locked In” disappoints with a lackluster execution of its promising elements. The detective game loses its charm, giving way to a predictably stretched conclusion. Famke Janssen’s performance, though promising, falls short under Rowan Joffe’s direction. The film’s reliance on a frustrating trope and a limited cast further hampers its impact.

Audiences were eagerly awaiting the final season of The Crown.
Part 1 of Season 6 debuted on November 16, quickly racking up 11.1M views in its first few days on Netflix. That was enough to boost it to No. 1 on the English-language TV charts for the week of November 13 to 19. According to Netflix, the new episodes were No. 1 in 44 countries and among the Top 10 in 85.
The final episodes are set to debut on December 14, meaning that The Crown is likely to appear in the Top 10 through the end of the year.
In second place last week was Matt Rife’s new stand-up special, Natural Selection. The special managed 7.4M views in its debut week. That was followed by All The Light We Cannot See, which was down from first place the week prior, with an additional 5.7M views. What happens when you combine a leading actor with two Oscar nominations, a director with four Oscar nods of his own, and a streaming debut following a very brief theatrical release? That killer combination makes for a big hit, which is what Netflix had this week with “The Killer,” starring Michael Fassbender and directed by David Fincher.
The action thriller tops the streaming chart in the Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report for the week of Nov. 6 to 12. Viewership among diverse audiences was strong, with Black households over-indexing by 6% and Hispanic households over-indexing by 5%.
In second this week is “All The Light We Cannot See,” Netflix’s limited series based on the popular novel. The series launched on Nov. 2, and the extra week of viewership helped propel the World War II drama up two spots from where it sat last week.

All The Light We Cannot See notched another week atop Netflix’s English-language TV charts, with viewership for the limited series continuing to climb.
The World War II story based on Anthony Doerr’s novel managed 10.1M views from November 6 to 12, up from the 9.8M it racked up in the week it debuted. This is quite a showing for All The Light, and it’s by far the most viewing for any series this week.
But, as of now it still has a long way to go before it could reach the streamer’s most popular list. Queen Charlotte is currently at No. 10 on that list with just over 80M views in its first 91 days.
Selling Sunset Season 7 soared up the list to second place (from No. 8 last week). The latest installment of the reality series nearly doubled its weekly audience with 4.7M views.
New to the list was Blue Eye Samurai,...

As expected, Netflix had a quick hit on its hands this weekend: David Fincher’s “The Killer” was an immediate #1 on the streamer. Credit the genre and star Michael Fassbender for giving it a boost that even top directors like Fincher don’t always guarantee.
After all, even Fincher’s first Netflix film, “Mank,” wasn’t a hit. His second offering for the streamer is immediately doing far better than his 2019 black-and-white biopic. Despite good reviews — and eventual Oscar nominations — “Mank” made Netflix’s top 10 for just one day and it only ranked at #10.
As for “The Killer,” its action appeal, a lead actor not known for streaming originals, and elevated festival attention all seem to have contributed to its immediate ascension to #1. It replaced “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” with Sony’s big summer hit still #2.

Not to sound like a stereotype, but I don't particularly get along with my mother-in-law. But the situation in the latest Netflix thriller, "Locked Up," is a great reminder that things could always be much, much worse. Despite little fanfare upon release and next to no promotion tied to it, "Locked In" has been consistently holding it down on the streamer's Top 10 list since it arrived on November 1. If you've not heard of the film, here's the official synopsis:
Katherine, a former Hollywood actor, wakes up in the hospital unable to move. She's been hit by a car and suffers from locked-in syndrome — her eyes are the only thing she's able to move. Through her nurse, Nicky, we find out what's led to Katherine's hospitalization. Katherine, communicating with her via letter board, blinks when Nicky reads the correct letter: She claims there's been a murder. Through flashbacks, we see snapshots...

The shelved Coyote vs Acme film may see the light of day after all. Amid industry outcry that WB was shelving yet another film, the studio has begun screening the movie for streaming services. Deadline reports that Prime Video seems to be the frontrunner as far as acquiring the movie goes. The shelving of the completed film has spurred lots of anger within the industry, as unlike the previously shelved Batgirl or Scoob’s Holiday Haunt, Coyote Vs Acme was complete and scheduled for a theatrical release.
Not only that, but reports suggest that the film was testing very well, with composer Steven Price roasting the company on Twitter for their “bizarre anti-art studio shenanigans.”
Had a lot of fun scoring Coyote Vs Acme. As no-one will be able to hear it now, due to bizarre anti-art studio financial shenanigans I will never understand, here is a bit of behind...

French action-comedy “Wingwomen,” which premiered on Nov. 1, flew to the top of the Netflix Top 10 chart during the Oct. 30-Nov. 5 viewing window with 18.5 million views, making it the week’s most-viewed title and No. 1 on the Non-English Films list after five days of availability on the streamer. After also making its debut on Nov. 1, UK crime thriller, “Locked In,” followed closely behind as the second most-viewed title this week with 17.8 million views. Thus, taking down Bill Burr’s “Old Dads” for the top spot on the English Film chart.
The comedy moved to fifth place on the chart with 5 million views — a drop from the previous week’s recorded 16.3 million views. “Old Dads” originally opened to 13.3 million views.
Meanwhile, on the English-Language TV chart, Shawn Levy’s “All the Light We Cannot See” cracked the chart following its Nov. 2 premiere date with 9.8 million views, pushing it to No. 1 on the list.

The Netflix TV Top 10 was shaken up last week due to a few new offerings.

Five recent releases debuted on different VOD charts this past week, and for the second week in a row, three different films took #1 among the three we follow. Two of these took #1 slots, with “Sound of Freedom” (Angel) atop Vudu and #2 at iTunes, while “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” (Paramount) reversing those positions at those two sites.
Google Play, which often lags behind the others seems particularly slow this week, with “The Equalizer 3” (Sony) still #1 even though it doesn’t make the top five at the other two. And “Paw Patrol” ranks only fourth, with “Sound of Freedom” seventh.
Netflix is back in Sony streamer mode, with “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” #1 and “Insidious: The Red Door” #2 (both new this week). But two recent festival-premiered originals took the two new spots. “Sly” (Stallone of course), a documentary, and “Nyad,” about the pioneering swimmer Diane Nyad with Annette Bening, are third and fourth respectively there.

The latest feature from David Fincher, a big-budget drama series from Steven Knight and Shawn Levy, and an Oscar hopeful starring Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are among the standout new additions hitting Netflix in November.
With The Killer, Fincher reteams with Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker to adapt the graphic novel written by Alexis Nolent. The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year and debuts on Netflix on Nov. 10, stars Michael Fassbender as a shadowy unnamed assassin and features a cast that includes Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Gabriel Polanco, Kerry O’Malley, Emiliano Pernía, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte and Tilda Swinton.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s review of The Killer described the film as “a satisfyingly retro, location-hopping genre exercise with fisticuffs, gadgets (albeit ones bought from Amazon) and smooth-talking antagonists that all plays like a tongue-in-cheek spoof of James Bond movies.”

Famke Janssen plays an ex-Hollywood star in this forgettable gothic mystery that could have flown its freak flag a little higher
Crashing rain, a remote countryside mansion, illicit sex, a British-accented Famke Janssen holding a shotgun while riding a horse – one might easily assume that the lurid Netflix thriller Locked In is a four-wines-in blast. At times it threatens to be, usually when at least two of those aforementioned elements are in play, but it’s all tease and no payoff, the heightened silliness of the first act wearing wafer-thin by the last, charmingly farfetched turning into an annoyingly far reach.
Written by Rowan Joffe, whose adaptation of Sj Watson’s enjoyably nutty thriller Before I Go to Sleep handled a similar balance far more effectively, Locked In also feels as if it’s based on an airport-bought page-turner. There are flashbacks, a potentially unreliable narrator, shifting perspectives, a hidden...

Tim Robbins is the kind of actor who really wants to inhabit his characters’ lives, and he’s not afraid to suffer for his art. When it came to playing a murderer serving a life sentence in The Shawshank Redemption, he tried to learn more about the role the hard way — by doing some hard time himself. In fact, as he told us at the time the movie opened, Robbins practically begged to be thrown in prison and put into solitary confinement — a request that, fortunately or unfortunately, was denied.
