It's no secret that Fallout games always had big and memorable story DLCs, which strongly shape our overall experience with the product. Each DLC attempts to stand out among the rest. However, every previous DLC in the franchise could stand out in some aspects, while simultaneously lack in others. Some DLCs were very well written, but were also either very crammy or too tedious in terms of gameplay, like Dead Money or The Pitt. Other DLCs were expansive and offered tons of new content, but the story and quests weren't that memorable, like Point Lookout or Honest Hearts. Altogether the DLCs formed a positive experience, but individually each of them could be a hit or a miss depending on the player's preferences. All of them had to complement each other in one way or another.
However, Far Harbor is the first fallout DLC that shines on all fronts. It has a really captivating and memorable story, interesting characters, fun sidequests, a HUGE new area to explore, a lot of new additional content, like equipment, structures and original enemies. No matter what type of fallout player are you (a person who prefers exploration, story, combat or anything else) - Far Harbor will most likely satisfy you as an expansion.
The only downside is that one particular puzzle mission closer to the end of the main quest. That's where the game can get a bit tedious, but that's only a minor part of the entire experience which gets substantially overshadowed by the outstanding quality of everything else regarding this expansion.

The new location is big but nothing new.
The brain puzzles using blocks was a real trial. The blocks rarely fit and the control system for it is Terrible. The actual puzzle was tedious at best and truly awful and lots of it (5 rounds!) Truly sucks eggs.
The characters are ok but the dialogue goes on forever without ever really saying anything that helps the story.
Positives are that it has plenty of content.
Negatives are that as the side quests are samey. The locations are drab and boring. The characters are empty.
I think Bethesda forgot we are playing Fallout and also forgot that games are supposed to be fun.
