Horror fans, we're happy to report that the upcoming Spyglass horror rom-com Heart Eyes finally has a theatrical release date. Unfortunately, the movie won't be coming out this year, which was expected since production just recently wrapped in New Zealand in July. The film is currently in post-production. However, Sony will be releasing this movie in theaters early next year. Feb. 7, 2025, to be exact. Don't forget to save the date!
Heart Eyes is described as a Valentine's Day slasher. Josh Ruben directed the film from a screenplay co-written by Phillip Murphy (Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), Christopher Landon, and Michael Kennedy.
Taking place in Seattle, Washington, Heart Eyes follows a pair of co-workers working overtime at their job during Valentine's Day. But things take a turn for the worse when an infamous couple-hunting murderer known as the "Heart Eyes Killer" shows up at their job and mistakes them for a couple.

New cast additions for the upcoming Valentine's Day slasher Heart Eyes have been announced. Devon Sawa and Jordana Brewster have reportedly joined the film's cast, which is currently in production in New Zealand.
We first learned of this film earlier this month. On June 10, Heart Eyes was announced to be in the works for Spyglass. It was described as an original horror romantic comedy with Josh Ruben directing from a screenplay written by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), Christopher Landon, and Michael Kennedy.
Here's what Ruben had to say about getting the opportunity to make the horror rom-com via Deadline:
My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies. I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe.Josh Ruben

Christy Turlington’s daughter Grace Burns, 19, made her debut at Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday.
Dressed in a sheer one-shouldered dress, she walked down the runway of the Alberta Ferretti spring 2024 show. Her dress was light pink with a floral design in various colors of muted green and maroon. Burns wore her hair long and straight, tucked behind her ears, as she made her way down the runway through the historic Castello Sforzesco.
She later posted an Instagram Reel of her runway moment, captioned, “@albertaferretti thank you thank you thank you for having me in your show… in a castleeeeee!!!!! So so so honored to be a part of this beautiful collection.”
Milan Fashion Week follows Burns’ first runway show ever in June, where she walked the British Vogue x LuisaVia Roma show in Florence. She wore a white Victoria Beckham dress with black lace gloves and stockings to match.

In January 2021, it was announced that the Tony-award winning performer Sarah Jones was due to make her directorial debut with a documentary about and inspired by her Off-Broadway one-woman show “Sell/Buy/Date,” in which she explored different characters’ relationships to the sex industry. The splashy announcement also included that Meryl Streep, Rashida Jones and Laverne Cox were set to serve as executive producers on the film. (Streep previously produced Jones’ Tony-winning production “Bridge & Tunnel.”)
Pretty big deal for a New York stage performer who got her start performing slam poetry at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. But the star-studded announcement drew outrage online from vocal sex workers and advocates, and within a day, Cox had pulled out of the project. (Rashida Jones would also later depart.) So what do you do when your film gets cancelled for its ideology before it’s even been made?

With its list of new releases for October 2022, Amazon Prime Video isn’t fully aboard the spooky season train but it is at least spooky adjacent.
The biggest release this month is Prime Video original series The Peripheral on Oct. 21. While not outright horror, it does sound more than a little unnerving. Based on a 2014 sci-fi novel by William Gibson, The Peripheral stars Chloë Grace Moretz as a woman in a near-future society who may have just discovered an alternate reality. Fittingly, Westworld‘s Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serve as executive producers.
The other TV series of note in October is The Devil’s Hour on Oct. 28. This British thriller comes form Steven Moffat and tells the story of a woman who wakes up at 3:33 a.m. (the devil’s hour) each night to receive a disturbing vision.
October is home to a couple of Amazon movies of note as well.

After dropping the epic “Lord of the Rings” television series on Prime Video last month, it’s no surprise the streaming giant is taking it easy this October. They still have plenty of new shows and movies coming out, though none quite on the scale of their journey to Middle Earth.
That being said, they’re transitioning from the world of fantasy to science fiction with their new series “The Peripheral.” Touted as being from the creators of HBO’s “Westworld,” Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the time-traveling series is based on author William Gibson’s bestselling sci-fi novel.
Per an official synopsis: “The Peripheral” centers on Flynne Fisher (Moretz), a woman trying to hold together the pieces of her broken family in a forgotten corner of tomorrow’s America. Flynne is smart, ambitious, and doomed. She has no future; until the future comes calling for her. “The Peripheral” is...

Cinedign has landed North American rights to “Sell/Buy/Date,” a playful and provocative film about the sex industry. Meryl Streep executive produced the movie, which debuted at this year’s SXSW Film Festival in Austin.
“Sell/Buy/Date” is set to be released theatrically this fall in the hopes that the film can garner awards attention. After playing in theaters, it will stream exclusively on Fandor with a wider digital release to follow.
Broadway veteran Sarah Jones (“Bridge & Tunnel”) directed the film in her feature debut. Based on her 2016 off-Broadway play, “Sell/Buy/Date” is at once a documentary and a narrative feature. Jones stars as herself, along with four different roles that include a young college student and an 80-something grandmother. Once again, we find ourselves already surprisingly further into a calendar year than feels appropriate. Even for those who don’t make it their sole mission to stay up-to-date with every new development in the TV world, the majority of the past year has brought with it a daunting number of series.
Some of those have been brand new shows, either the result of conscious release date delays or interrupted production schedules. Others have been series imports that enjoyed full runs in different parts of the world before getting a U.S. debut in 2021. And as the year continues to develop and the awards calendar switches over into its multi-holiday phase, we’ve also seen the return of established favorites.
We try our best to help sift through the steady stream of newcomers every month, but there still always seems to be more than any casual viewer can keep track.

Summertime nostalgia, romantic look backs at what might’ve been and reflecting on the halcyon days of youth. Written, directed, produced by and starring Edward Burns (“The Brothers McMullen,” “She’s The One,” Epix’s “Bridge and Tunnel”), the new drama, “Summer Days, Summer Nights,” is definitely sentimental for the past, the mistakes made, the loves found, and the friendships and seminal moments in our life shared.

When TV academy voters sit down to fill out their 2021 Emmy nominations ballots, they have to consider 68 shows for Best Comedy Series; this is down by 43 contenders from last year. The last time there were less than 100 entrants of this type was in 2016, when 96 series vied for bids. Since 2017, voters have not had to limit their choices to just 10 shows. The TV academy tells its members to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Absent from the list below is reigning Best Comedy Series winner “Schitt’s Creek,” which ended its six-season run last April. Only one of its seven rivals in that race — “The Kominsky Method” — aired episodes during the eligibility period of June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. The other six nominees from last year do not appear on this year’s ballot, with “The Good Place” having signed off in January 2020 after four seasons.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated with a quote from Bond producers Eon Productions about their commitment to theatrical releases for future 007 installments.
Amazon and MGM have struck a $8.45 billion deal for the e-commerce giant to acquire the storied studio behind James Bond. MGM’s enormous library and underutilized franchises will be major assets for Amazon’s streaming efforts: While Amazon has virtually unlimited money to spend on film, TV, and music (last year’s content budget: $11 billion), it doesn’t have a century’s worth of content.
With streamers dominating the industry in a post-pandemic land grab for subscribers, the MGM deal means Amazon has a clearer path to the industry’s number-three spot, after Netflix and Disney. This deal gives Amazon a major leg up on another deep-pocketed tech company, Apple, which planned to spend $17 billion on content last year but has no library to speak of.

Intent on living up to its name immediately, “Bridge and Tunnel,” starts with a young couple bursting into a dingy bar bathroom to have reunion sex on the sink. Jimmy (Sam Vartholomeos) and Jill (Caitlin Stasey) split long ago in their short lives, after she identified that they were headed in opposite directions. Jimmy has a one-way ticket out of town, after landing a coveted photography job with National Geographic, while Jill is happy to bounce back and forth between their small hometown in Long Island and the big-city life in Manhattan, as she patiently figures out what’s next. But, as young love tends to do, their attraction brings them back together for one more night in the local tavern’s single occupancy bathroom.
Will they stay together? Will they break up again? Will they harbor minor or major regrets over whatever decision they ultimately make, only to look...

Edward Burns was only 12-years-old in 1980, so he doesn’t consider that decade to be one he experienced to the fullest at the time. Having some distance from the politics or harder events of the time period, though, makes him look back on it fondly as a simpler time, “the way you look back at an old photograph and think, ‘Oh that looks so nice,'” he says. That is what made it the perfect setting for his new Epix dramedy “Bridge and Tunnel.”
“I thought of this as, ‘You’re making “Downton Abbey.”‘ In no way was I trying to recreate the 1970s [or] 1980s, but look at it through the rose-colored, nostalgia look back,” Burns tells Variety.
“The time period that I’ve always been obsessed with is the late-’70s in New York: You’ve got the birth of punk and New Wave and hip hop; you’ve...

One of the most admirable things about Edward Burns’ career since the writer-director-star’s 1995 Sundance breakout The Brothers McMullen is how well he has maintained his sense of scale. Somebody receiving a comparable level of festival hype today would have jumped immediately to a Marvel spinoff and vanished in grandiosity, but Burns has steadily continued to make small, character-driven ensemble pieces with brisk running times. You might not have heard of all of them, but they exist, they play festivals and I’m sure they have fans.
