At first I thought nothing new with the storyline.
Then stayed on because great locations on Mauritius ... Then stayed on because the mother's character is very funny And then loved how the storyline developed.

Of course there are better movies then this one. It falls into the category of "easy movies" with not much new to say. However, the focus it has in the family and in the self-love rather than the typical boy-meets-girl, makes it an above average netflix movie.
Quim Gutierrez does a correct job, but Carmen Machi really stands out in this movie with some very well acted moments.

When I sat down to watch the 2022 Spanish comedy "Amor de Madre" (aka "Mother's Love"), I didn't know what to expect from writers Cristóbal Garrido and Adolfo Valor as I had never heard about the movie before sitting down to actually watch it. But I have to say that the movie's synopsis definitely sounded interesting enough. So of course I opted to give this movie a view.
And I will say that director Paco Caballero actually put together a wholesome and thoroughly entertaining movie. The storyline in the movie was well-written and had a good combination and mixture of comedy and proper narrative to it. So it actually made for a good viewing.
As I am not particularly well-traversed in the Spanish cinema, then I can't claim to be familiar with the cast ensemble here. But Carmen Machi (playing Mari Carmen) and Quim Gutiérrez (playing José Luis) were nicely cast for their roles and carried the movie quite well. They had good chemistry on the screen and put on very good performances.
If you enjoy light-hearted comedies with a proper story, then you should definitely give "Amor de Madre" a chance, provided you get to do so. I was genuinely entertained by this movie, and it is a feel-good type of movie.
My rating of "Amor de Madre" lands on a six out of ten stars.

This was a charming find and really enjoyed it .. dont be mislead by the review translation (me bones negra) it means "you make me angry" - not - "you make me negra " I wish people would think and stop before they post things like that.

I am talking about the title - I have no idea if this is a remake. I would not be surprised. At least the idea and the premise are not really new. But back to the original title, which is more fitting than the english title ... although it also is vacation time I reckon.
It's quite funny how the movie bookends itself with how it began - but also is different ... way different to make the tweaking work. Relationships are fragile - especially when there are things going on ... or broiling under the surface.
Still family is what counts - as some would say. And if you can dig that concept, you will be forgiving of the flaws this has. It is a light comedy after all. Nice soundtrack - especially the bookend song, but also some of the others. Witty enough not to get too sentimental ... or at least winking at the audience when it does.

This is just garbage, pure and simple! Spanish humor can sometimes transcend cultures, this one just falls flat! The script seems to have been written for a high school production, and the over-the-top acting and dumb dialog did nothing to help at all!

Avoid it, unless you like cheap humor. This movie is not funny, just "weird" and cheesy. Not even think it will be a good idea watching it with your mum.

I really enjoy this movie, not predictable. Shows the love and relationship with mother/son and how good is when you spend more time to know each other.
Me encanto la película muy divertida.

It's cute, but with too many lame American moments. The mother is very tender and she's the engine of the movie. But unfortunately the movie is done by Netflix, so there are sexualized and immoral scenes.

In this day and age it is unfathomable that a movie would use such an expression to express "you make me angry", you would expect that to be on an old spanish movie but 2022?
Actually it's funny and sweet. Shows how they relationship gets better through a hard time. And it's quite realistic, of you're looking for a comedy I recommend it.

Many lessons could be learned through this movie, it has many powerful messages considering mom's and how they are left out of their son's lives and some don't even bother commenting on it until they die. This was different, a feel-good movie with a beautiful paradise for a scenery and next level acting!! No words for the leading roll, I was left speachless. Main cast was spot on.

As an unashamed mummy's boy who used to take mum on holiday when she was with us, I enjoyed this film. It isn't as linear as you might expect it to be and it takes us in some unexpected directions, what needs to be mentioned is the first class soundtrack - it fits nicely into the film.
Spanish comedies are hit and miss but it seems Netflix are making a concerted effort into making some quality Spanish language content and it seems they are on the right path if the likes of 'Amor de Madre' are any evidence of it. Set in Spain and Mauritius. As well as the chemistry between the main acts, you also have the beautiful scenery of Mauritius and of course the storyline, it's a winner from me therefore, nine out of ten.
