When the Marvel Cinematic Universe began to first toy with the concept of Multiverse, fans who were yet strangers to the World of Marvel Comics had little idea about the implications (read: multiple character introductions). The introduction of Kang might be the most consequential for the MCU, while the introduction of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine have garnered the most hype.
Amidst all this, there is one character that could best be introduced with the anti-hero. Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine has the perfect chance to ease an iconic Marvel villain into the MCU, setting his story up perfectly.
Deadpool & Wolverine would be the perfect chance for introducing Dracula

To mark the release of Escape Plan 2 on 17th September, we’ve ben given 3 copies of the Escape Plan boxset to give away on DVD.
Years after Ray Breslin (three-time Academy Award© nominee and Golden Globe© winner Sylvester Stallone) fought his way out of the escape-proof prison called “The Tomb,” he’s organised a new top-notch, for-hire security force that includes some of the best in the business. But when one of Breslin’s team goes missing – inside a computerised techno-terror battle-maze known as Hades, where human combatants brawl like beasts – Breslin goes back into the secret lock-up to save his friend. To attempt this near impossible mission, he enlists his old friend Trent Derosa (Dave Bautista) and the returning surveillance expert Hush (Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson), to help him return from the gauntlet with both his friend and his life.
Please note: This competition is open to UK residents only...

2013′s Escape Plan was, despite the hype behind the double header of the appearance of Stallone and Schwarzenegger together, something of an underwhelming action flick. Whilst it was a solid movie it didn’t set the world alight and most people, other than genre fans that is, would be hard-pressed to remember the ins-and-outs of the futuristic prison film. But that didn’t stop Stallone from putting together plans for not one but Two sequels, this time teaming with man-mountain and comedy genius Dave Bautista and director Steven C. Miller – who’s no stranger to genre filmmaking, having helmed a trio of Bruce Willis Dtv movies and the Nicolas Cage...

Fans rejoice. Take a deep breath and exhale. The sequel we’ve all been waiting for is only a few months away. I know you know we’re talking Escape Plan 2: Hades. Sylvester Stallone returns for the sequel, which finds his character Ray Breslin breaking In to a prison rather than breaking Out. Sly will be joined by franchise newcomer Dave Bautista. Bautista’s muscles fill in for Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will not be returning.
In all seriousness, the reason I like movies like this is because it doesn’t pretend to be anything its not. Either you like these silly action movies or you don’t. While I don’t necessarily always feel like watching something like this, occasionally it’s great. Like any junk food it must be consumed in moderation.
Here’s the official synopsis:

In searching for the truth, mixed identities, comic hijinks, and lover’s games ensue in this. Roman based her original script both on the classic Oscar Wilde play, The Importance of Being Earnest and on her experience playing darts at St. Louis’ own Blueberry Hill, which is where she met her husband John.

Among the crown jewels of Scream Factory’s ever-growing library of classic horror titles on Blu-ray (and some not-so-classic) are their Vincent Price Collection boxed sets, collecting many of the icon’s greatest films including most of the Roger Corman “Poe cycle”, as well as other goodness like the Dr. Phibes movies and the brilliant Witchfinder General. Not only do these collections celebrate one of the greatest icons the genre has ever known, but also honor a kind of old-school horror of which we don’t see enough anymore.
But by the recently released Vincent Price Collection III, the third collection of Price movies on Blu-ray, Scream Factory has had to dig up some fairly esoteric titles, not all of which can be considered horror. Unfortunately, Theater of Blood is still nowhere to be found on Blu-ray and Kino Lorber has the rights for anthologies like Tales of Terror and Twice Told Tales,...

Born in St. Louis on May 27, 1911, iconic actor Vincent Price retained a special fondness for his place of origin, and that love was reciprocated with Vincentennial, a celebration of his 100th birthday in his hometown back in May of 2011 (for summary of all the Vincentennial activities go Here). One of the guests of honor at Vincentennial was Vincent Price’s daughter Victoria Price. Because of their close relationship and her access to his unpublished memoirs and letters, Victoria Price was able to provide a remarkably vivid account of her father’s public and private life in her essential book, Vincent Price, a Daughter’s Biography, originally published in 1999. .In 2011, her biography of her father was out of print. but now it’s been re-issued and Victoria will be in St. Louis this weekend (October 9th – 10th) for three special events. In addition to the biography, she will also be signing...

The ninth annual Drive-in Super Monster Rama was staged – as is traditional - on the weekend following Labor Day at the Riverside Drive-in, Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. Inaugurated in 2007, this fiendish gathering of monster-movie insomniacs is tailored to those who cherish the classic horror films of the 1960s and 1970s. It’s a thoughtfully programmed and purposely retro affair; fans get to experience (or re-experience) their favorites as they might have when the movies were new – in the witching hour setting of an authentic neighborhood drive-in theater.
With each passing year the Monster Rama grows steadily in attendance and flourishes in reputation. In 2013 the annual gathering spawned a mid-spring sister event, the April Ghoul’s Drive-in Monster Rama. Co-sponsored from inception by George Reis (of the preeminent cult...

It’s always exciting when there’s a new feature film being shot in St. Louis! We Are Movie Geeks was recently on the set of The Importance Of Doubting Tom, a romantic comedy set in the world of dart throwing where the “competitions play out echoing and mirroring the games that lovers play”. It’s loosely based on the classic Oscar Wilde play, The Importance of Being Earnest.
The Importance Of Doubting Tom is written and directed by Vanessa Roman, who has been actively working in the local theater and film industry for 15 years. Her first film, Play Dead, won Best Horror Short and Best Juvenile Actress at The St. Louis Filmmaker’s Showcase and her second, The Inheritance won Best Experimental film at the Toronto Female Eye Film Festival.

British actress Elizabeth Shepherd is best known for her dual performance as the strong-willed Lady Rowena and the ghostly Lady Ligeia opposite Vincent Price in director Roger Corman’s The Tomb Of Ligeia in 1965. Ms Shepherd has enjoyed a long career in movies and in British television since 1959 and her most recent big screen role was as Hillary Swank’s mother-in-law in the 2008 Amelia Earhart biography Amelia. However, it’s the stage is where she most loves to perform and that’s where we caught up with her for this interview as she was preparing for her role in an upcoming production of the play Pygmalion in Houston. We had invited Ms Shepherd to be a guest of honor at Vincentennial, the Vincent Price 100th Birthday Celebration in May of 2011 here in Price’s hometown of St. Louis, but she had committed to the play and was unable to accept our invitation.

Today is Vincent Price’s 104th Birthday! Price was born here in St. Louis on this date in 1911 and is the most iconic movie star to hail from our city. Price, who died October 25th 1993, was also a gourmand, author, stage actor, speaker, world-class art collector, raconteur, and all-around Renaissance man. Vincent Price was simply one of the most remarkable people of the 20th Century. Four years ago we had the opportunity to celebrate his 100th birthday and St. Louis was the place to do it. I teamed up with Cinema St. Louis to present Vincentennial, The Vincent Price 100th Birthday Celebration, an event that lasted through much of the Spring of 2011. The following year Vincentennial won two coveted Rondo Awards, one for “Best Fan Event” and a second for myself as “Monster Kid of the Year” for directing the event. The Rondo Awards are prestigious Fan Awards given out...

What will horror fans be watching this Christmas? Nick's got some ideas
The phrase “camp as Christmas” seems the only appropriate way to describe this month’s festive special as we take a look at the Blu-ray release of six Edgar Allan Poe adaptations combining the formidable talents of the great Vincent Price and the glorious “King of B-Movies”, Roger Corman.
Filmed relatively early in Corman’s incredibly prolific sixty-year career (over 400 movies produced, more than fifty films directed and he’s even starred in thirty-odd to boot!), this month’s Six Gothic Tales boxset covers all but one of his and Price’s early 60s Poe-themed Aip productions, from the morose The Fall Of The House Of Usher right through to 1964’s UK-based The Tomb Of Ligeia.
The first thing to note is the difficulty in believing the man responsible for Inhumanoid, Subliminal Seduction and the upcoming Sharktopus...

Paul Naschy was arguably Spain's finest maker of horror movies, many of which were little seen.
It's been 10 years since the death of Paul Naschy, Spain's finest purveyor of horror, and it still seems somehow unreal and unfair. He was 75 years old and boasted an acting career that lasted from 1960 to only months before he died, with well over a hundred credits (often lead roles) to his name, yet Naschy still had so much to give. Despite suffering long-term depression and undergoing major heart surgery, his spirit, enthusiasm and unpretentious adoration of genre cinema made him feel irrepressible. I could well imagine his barrel-chested form wrestling the Grim Reaper into submission and stealing his gown as a prop for use in a later film but no, Naschy has gone...

As the undisputed king of American gothic, Vincent Price holds a unique position regarding his association with British horror. From the mid sixties, nearly all his films were made in the UK, and while not as distinguished as The House of Usher (1960), Tales of Terror (1962) and The Raven (1963), they are not without interest. As an actor perfectly suited to English gothic, Price’s output includes two career-defining performances. In a nutshell, he had the best of both worlds.
Masque of the Red Death (1964)
The British phase of his career began with a bang. After directing all of Price’s Poe chillers for American International Pictures, Roger Corman wanted to give the formula a fresh approach by making his next film in England. Aip’s Samuel Z Arkoff and James H Nicholson had already produced several European films, so the next step was to establish a London base with Louis M Heyward in charge.

Far too often we throw around the phrase "horror icon" or "horror legend"; however, there is no disputing the fact that Vincent Price absolutely deserves to be described with both of those handles. And today, to celebrate Scream Factory's launch of The Vincent Price Collection (review), we count down our Top 10 Vincent Price Films.
Well known to mainstream, non-horror fans as the voice in the legendary Michael Jackson song "Thriller," Vincent Price was indeed the face of horror for quite some time. He was incredibly chilling with a voice that simply oozed horror. And it's for those enviable traits, and the fact that he spent so much of his life dedicated to the horror genre, that we honor Vincent Price with his own personal Top 10 list!

Vincent Price Week concludes at Trailers from Hell with "Tomb of Ligeia," which director and Tfh creator Joe Dante calls "an intelligent and satisfying climax to the [Roger] Corman/Poe saga."Roger Corman bids farewell to his Edgar Allan Poe series with a beautifully mounted departure from the heavy stylization of previous entries, played more like a gothic romance. Vincent Price would go on to topline an eccentric collection of further Poe "adaptations", some of them in name only. Elizabeth Shepherd is a strong proto-Jane Austin heroine, and also plays Price's dead wife who haunts him from the grave in the form of a black cat. It's an intelligent and satisfying climax to the Corman/Poe saga.

Edgar Allan Poe. So good you remake them twice. Roger Corman made Edgar Allan Poe movie adaptations way back in the 50s and 60s, with Vincent Price starring in many of them. It’s 2012, going on 2013, and that means it’s time. Time for Corman to go back to Poe, with all-new adaptations of the classic material.
And with Corman, of course, that means not just one, but a bundle. House Of Usher, The Pit And The Pendulum, Premature Burial, Tales Of Terror, The Raven, The Haunted Palace, The Masque Of The Red Death, and The Tom Of Ligeia are all on the remake slate. Here’s what Corman had to say: “Now being able to do them in 3D and with a lot of computer graphics, we can do things we never dreamed of doing before.“
Expect the budgets to be around $2.5-$3 million, or way more than the originals.

I'm always experiencing Déjà vu these days. Like the other day I visited a lovely Cornish pub for a cosy meal with my wife Ally, and yet all of a sudden I had this notable feeling that I'd been there before. No word of warning, and then Bam! It was like I'd suddenly realised that I'd been a patron of this lovely olde worlde pub in another life. Back in the 1800s, I was probably one of those poor scribes clamouring for a slice of bread, slab of cheese and lots of ale in return for a dreary recital of my latest meisterwork. The pub would have seen a mass exodus of people, leaving me to mop the floor with my upturned head.
Still, this Déjà vu can extend to the telly - the problem with modern British TV is that these days, there seems to be more repeats than...

There's a tell-tale significance to the fact that adaptations of the works of Edgar Allan Poe have been a feature of every decade of cinema since the invention of the moving picture itself. For more than a century, film-makers have found inspiration in Poe's weird tales, which blend suspenseful psychodrama and sensational shocks in a manner perfectly suited to the mainstream movie palette.
Perhaps most enduring are the films of Roger Corman, with titles such as The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death and Tomb of Ligeia all proving enduring low-budget favourites. In Europe, fans of the Italian "giallo" genre have seen directors as influential as Mario Bava and Lucio Fulci variously draw upon the writings of the so-called godfather of modern horror, while a collaboration between Dario Argento and George Romero...

Jennifer Lawrence / Josh Hutcherson's The Hunger Games Box Office: $250M Milestone Not Reached Last Weekend. Another consequence of The Hunger Games' lower-than-expected weekend box-office performance was that its drop-off rate was slightly higher than originally thought. At close to 62%, The Hunger Games drop was about the same as that of Catherine Hardwicke / Robert Pattinson / Kristen Stewart's original Twilight movie in fall 2008 — even though Ross' film version of Suzanne Collins' novel received much better reviews. For comparison's sake, among non-sequels: James Cameron / Sam Worthington's Avatar was down a minuscule 2% on its second weekend. Sam Raimi / Tobey Maguire / Kirsten Dunst's original Spider-Man was down 38%. Chris Columbus / Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was down 36%. Michael Bay / Shia Labeouf / Megan Fox's Transformers was down 47.5%. Tim Burton / Mia Wasikowska's Alice in Wonderland was down 46%. Relieved from his duties as California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger is building his comeback to the big screen. Later this year he will have a much bigger role in Expendables 2 and will also star in The Last Stand. Hopefully he’s been pumping iron in the gym because he’s going to team up with Stallone again.
Summit Entertainment has just announced that Schwarzenegger (The Terminator) and Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) will star opposite of each other in The Tomb, an action-thriller directed by Mikael Håfström (The Rite, Shanghai). When he is set up and sent to the prison he created, he essentially must go up against himself to escape and find retribution. Schwarzenegger plays a fellow inmate a complex guy whose tough exterior hides the reality he’s an okay guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity.
