Alternate versions

In order to receive an "A" (PG) cinema certificate in the UK, the film was cut by the BBFC with brief editing of the scenes of Angela's liquefied face in the segment "The Shadmock". All later releases of the film were uncut and the certificate was raised to "15".

There are slight differences between the 1985 ThrillerVideo VHS version of the film hosted by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (Cassandra Peterson) and the later HD version of it. Throughout the three story segments, occasionally scenes begin or end a few seconds sooner, which results in the Elvira-hosted VHS version running 21 seconds shorter than the Scorpion Releasing Blu-ray version, despite technically including extra footage. The only notable deviation comes at the end of the segment "The Vampires"; the Elvira-hosted VHS version is missing Lintom Busotsky's vampire father's final line ("Oh, we're a happy family!"). Additionally, during the segment "The Humgoo", a blue filter was utilized for the VHS transfer to give the appearance of eternal night in the village of Loughville.
