Walt Disney's Oscar nomination and win for this short were posthumous, as he died two years before its release. Director Wolfgang Reitherman accepted the award on Disney's behalf.
Paul Winchell used the voice of his ventriloquist dummy Knucklehead Smiff to create the voice of Tigger.
This featurette marks Disney's debut of Piglet and Tigger who are both voiced by John Fielder and Paul Winchell. They both have continued their voice roles in future productions for over 30+ years. Paul Winchell retired in 1999 after the television special, Winnie The Pooh and A Valentine For You. John Fielder continued Piglet until his death in 2005 during the direct to video production of Pooh's Heffalaump Halloween Movie. Fiedler then passed away one day after Winchell.
Out of the four Winnie the Pooh featurettes, this is the only one not to feature a vocal version of the "Winnie the Pooh" theme song.
