Catherine Deptuch is a writer, director, producer, and 1st Assistant Director based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is the founder and director of Vulcat Studio and her work as a director has won numerous accolades in festivals around the world including but not limited to the U.S. (Los Angeles, Austin, Seattle, Miami, Madison, New Hope), Canada, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. She has garnered awards such as Best Short film (Polish Film Festival Los Angeles), Best Jazz Music Video, Best California Short, and Best Indie Short Film to name a few. In the studio world, Catherine has worked as an accomplished Sustainability Coordinator on feature films and television shows at both HBO and Netflix. She is also an accomplished producer and 1st Assistant Director who has worked on feature films and music videos that have garnered attention in numerous festivals and streaming platforms. Growing up in a Polish-American household in New Jersey, her style of storytelling stems from both American and international cinema, and Catherine tells stories that are "coming of age at any age". Catherine is also interested in making multilingual films and films with themes and prominent use of music, using her trilingual skills (English, Polish, French) and her classical and jazz music performance background to push the boundaries of visual storytelling. She is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts with a BFA in Film and TV Production, has worked in the film industry in Los Angeles for over seven years, and has interned at HBO, Indian Paintbrush, The Jim Henson Company, and Voltage Pictures in both Los Angeles and at the Cannes Film Festival.
