What dreams may come...
Season 1 of Netflix's "The Sandman" wasn't quite the great Neil Gaiman adaptation some of the storyteller's fans have been waiting for. It nevertheless set the series (which is far from strictly a fantasy drama) on the path to becoming the next best thing to reading Gaiman's original comics. That it was able to stay faithful to the spirit of its source material while including some welcome modifications -- some of which, admittedly, were more superficial than others in the way they modernize the "Sandman" universe -- is all the more reason to remain hopeful about the show's future.
Of course, it also helps that Gaiman's earlier "Sandman" comic books (which formed the basis of season 1) are generally agreed to be the weakest of the lot, compared to what comes after. With the best of the saga of Morpheus still on the horizon, fans have been...

This post contains spoilers for The Sandman Season One
In some ways, the Netflix adaptation of The Sandman is not too different from other popular television shows. It told a satisfying story across its first season, one that saw Morpheus aka Dream (Tom Sturridge) stop renegade nightmare the Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook) and deal with living dream vortex Rose Walker (Kyo Ra). Along the way, it laid the groundwork for future storylines, including the division between Dream and his sibling Desire (Mason Alexander Park) and a rivalry with Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie), ruler of Hell.
When series such of these get renewed for another season, as The Sandman recently has, it’s natural for fans to speculate about how the show will develop these plot threads. But because The Sandman adapts a long-since completed comic book series, fans have a clearer picture of how future stories will play out.
The rumours are true.

If you've been suffering through the nightmare of Netflix no longer acknowledging the existence of "The Sandman," then you're in luck. Netflix has reportedly renewed the Neil Gaiman adaptation for a second season, according to insiders at Deadline. These reports come after DC Comics deleted a tweet regarding its renewal earlier today.
Needless to say, this is pretty exciting. Even though the first season of "The Sandman" had a few translation issues from page to screen, it was brimming with potential. It is clear from the show's writing that the team, headed up by showrunner Allan Heinberg, truly understood the stories they were adapting. Not only that, but the writing was brought to life by a cast that wasn't just sleepwalking their way through their characters.
Having it get another season will allow them to iron out the kinks, thus potentially resulting in the best Gaiman adaptation we've gotten yet.

Season 11 of Doctor Who wasn’t for everyone, with Jodie Whittaker’s first outing as the Thirteenth Doctor pretty much splitting the fandom right down the middle between those who embraced the big changes brought by the first female Time Lord and the new direction taken by showrunner Chris Chibnall and those who, well, didn’t. And among those who couldn’t get into season 11 is classic series actress Anneke Wills.
Speaking at a press screening of the newly-released 1967 story “The Macra Terror,” a lost adventure that’s been recreated with animation, Wills explained that she only got through the first episode before switching it off as it’s not to her tastes. However, she did make clear that she has nothing against Whittaker’s appointment as the Doctor.
“I have to be honest… I think Jodie is lovely… [but] I watched most of the first one and then I let go,...

"You think India is ready to rule itself?" IFC FIlms has debuted an official trailer for the drama Viceroy's House, telling the story of Lord Mountbatten's trip to New Delhi in 1947 to help transition India from British rule to independence. This is a story that has been told before in many other films previously, but we have another new take on it this year. Viceroy's House features Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Huma Qureshi, Michael Gambon, Lily Travers, Simon Callow, Manish Dayal, and Om Puri. The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and also played at the Belgrade Film Festival. It's goal is to focus on the division of India, and the creation of Pakistan, more than anything and how this destroyed the lives of so many different people. It's a good film, just not very memorable, but that's my take. Here's the first official trailer...

Based on the true story of the final months of British rule in India, Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy’S House will release in the UK on Digital Download 24 July 2017 and on Blu-ray™ and DVD on 7 August 2017. To celebrate, we’re giving away 2 Blu-ray copies!
The release coincides with the 70th Anniversary of the Independence of India and the founding of Pakistan. After 300 years of British rulers, the last Viceroy, Lord Mountbatten, was charged with handing India back to its people. It is a story that is deeply personal to Gurinder, whose own family was caught up in the tragic events that unfolded as the Raj came to an end.
The film’s story unfolds within the great House. Upstairs lived Mountbatten, his wife, Lady Mountbatten and daughter; downstairs lived their 500 Hindu, Muslim, Sikh servants. As the political elite – Nehru, Jinnah and Gandhi – converged on the House to wrangle...

We present our interviews from the red carpet of the UK Premiere of Viceroy’s House, held yesterday evening at the at Curzon Mayfair in London.
The film stars Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Lily Travers, Manish Dayal and Huma Qureshi, and is directed by Gurinder Chadha. It tells the story of the final Viceroy in India before its independence. Chadha’s take on the division of the Indian Empire is told through the relationship between the titular Viceroy and his wife, and the emergent love between one of their servants and his bride.
The film has a fine cast and looks, from the trailers, to be a visually sumptuous enterprise. Scott Davis and Colin Hart were on the red carpet this evening.
Director Gurinder Chadha spoke eloquently on the timing of the film, and the importance of learning from history.

The film is accompanied by a beautiful and moving score, composed by Oscar and Grammy winning maestro A.R. Rahman. Speaking in a recent interview, Rahman references Viceroy’s House:
“Gurinder’s expectation was to have something very classic, very rooted and at the same time universal. I’ve used the sarangi, a strings and brass orchestra, a lot of flute — mainly classical instruments.”

Two new character posters have arrived for British drama, Viceroy’s House and we can’t help thinking they have a link to Valentine’s Day. With Gillian Anderson gazing lovingly at her Husband, Lord Mountbatten (Hugh Bonneville) on one side and the young lover’s, Jeet and Aalia cosying up to each other.

Viceroy’s House is set in a time where men were seen to rule their women and these posters depict this in a blatant manner with both Lord Mountbatten and Jeet in regal, honourable stances ever so slightly in front of the ladies. Even though fitting for the time, to portray this on promotional posters in the 21st century makes them feel dated. Oh and while we are here does anyone else, after watching our previous trailer post for Viceroy’s House, think Gillian Anderson has...
