With nearly 30 years under his belt in the motion picture industry, Fraikin has worked in several production hubs around the world, including Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, Jakarta, Montreal and Abu Dhabi.
Before becoming a leading global film & TV consultant, Fraikin was the Head of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, with a mandate to restructure the Commission into a world-class production service entity. In this role, Fraikin generated an average 140% year-to-year growth with Hollywood blockbusters such as Dune and Mission Impossible, Bollywood blockbusters such as Vikram Vedha and Bloody Daddy, and streaming hits such as MGM's Last Light and Netflix's The Fastest.
Previous to the UAE, Fraikin was named the founding CEO and Commissioner of the Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) in 2006, with a mandate to ensure the province's economic and industrial development in the production and digital media spaces, with specific responsibilities for international film, television and animation productions and co-productions. As head of the Industrial Media Cluster, he spearheaded the creation of various sectorial Hubs, such as the Visual-Effects Cluster, the Dubbing Hub, the Digital Media Lab, and the Tax Credit Compliance Committee.
Under his 9-year stewardship the QFTC generated over $1.5 billion in inward investment from over 100 feature films, television series and animations, with titles such as 300, X-Men, RED, Smurfs, Riddick, Benjamin Button, Get Smart, Beastly and Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D. Fraikin created partnerships with all six Hollywood majors (Warner Bros, Disney, Universal, Fox, Paramount and Sony) and several mini-majors such as Lionsgate, Relativity Media, Summit Entertainment and Lakeshore.
Prior to this, Fraikin was the Director of International Operations for Telefilm Canada, the Canadian Film funding Agency. In this capacity, he forged a reputation as a global expert in International Official Coproduction Treaties, structuring Coproductions between Canada, and various partners such as the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Spain, China, India, Morocco, and Jordan.
Mr. Fraikin regularly participated (and still does) in round-tables and media summits with government officials from Canada's Coproduction Treaty partners around the world and has also given dozens of conferences on the structures, operations and administration of Official Coproduction Treaties. Fraikin commenced his career with Twentieth Century Fox, distributing and marketing over 100 feature-films through his 10-year tenure, including hits such as Titanic, Braveheart, Mrs. Doubtfire, Speed, Power Rangers, The Full Monty, Romeo + Juliet, the Star Wars trilogy, and Fox's first feature animated film Anastasia. He was a Board member of the AFCI (Association of Film Commissioners International). His Industry awards include Twentieth Century Fox's Best Worldwide Marketing Campaign for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and an Industry Box Office Record for ID4: Independence Day.
