Exclusive: HBO Max has rounded out its cast of series regulars for comedy pilot Wild Life, which is fronted by Izabella Alvarez in the role of Ciara.
The cast includes Nadine Velazquez (Queens), Annie Funke (The Offer), Nabeel Muscatwalla (Good Trouble), Ava Lalezardeh (The Pursuit), Brielle Barbusca (Young Sheldon), Cyrus Arnold (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Jessi Case (Mother’s Day), Chrystal Campbell, and Beau Minnier.
From writers and executive producers Jason Ubaldi, Chris Peterson, and Bryan Moore, Wild Life follows a diverse group of high school teens who are struggling with personal and social issues who spend their school hours working at the local animal rescue as part of an alternative educational program.
While comedy comes from their quirky offbeat personalities and the unique setting of “high school at the animal rescue,” the series also will have heart as working with animals helps them deal with their personal issues with friends and at home.

Mandate Pictures doesn't want to just hand over its teen dance movie to anyone, they want a veteran, making Thomas Carter just the man for the job. According to THR, Carter, who directed Save the Last Dance, has agreed to delve back into the genre and get behind the lens for Dream On. Carter will be pulling double duty as he takes on producing responsibilities as well, which he'll share with Dreamgirls' Laurence Mark.
The script comes from Jason Ubaldi and focuses on 17-year-old girl whose dream of becoming an Olympic gymnast is crushed by an injury. Her back up plan? Testing the waters of the underground hip-hop scene in Atlanta.

Just like actors, directors occasionally find themselves linked to a certain type of project. Michael Bay, for example, has the power these days to do whatever he wants, but despite constant remarks that he wants to slip a small, swift indie between his summer blockbusters, we’ve been hearing that for years with no sign. Thomas Carter might be a lesser-known example: he directed Save The Last Dance a few years ago, and despite having Eddie Murphy cop movie Metro and Sam Jackson basketball biopic Coach Carter on his resume, all he seems to be getting in motion right now are dance-themed films. The latest? Dream On for Mandate Pictures. The movie will dive into the underground hip hop scene seething in Atlanta as a 17-year-old gymnast realises that an injury will keep her from her hopes of Olympic glory. That’s pretty much it for the storyline as The Hollywood Reporter has it,...
