Agnes Carlsson, a winner of "Sweden Idol" five years ago, has hit both the U.S. mainstream and dance scene in a big way with her smash single, "Release Me." MTV News had the opportunity to sit down with the young starlet as she made her Wmc debut in Miami.
"'Release Me' was the third song I wrote in my life, and to hear and see that a lot of people just really like the song and the music I do is amazing," she said.
Undoubtedly, thousands of conference-goers became far better acquainted with the diversity and range of the Swedish sensation as she packed in a whirlwind week full of appearances and performances. She also took the stage at some of Miami's biggest parties with the likes of Estelle and Kelis.

It's been nearly three years since Swedish DJ/producers Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso first performed as the house-music collective Swedish House Mafia. But in a short span, they've become rock stars in the genre.
Although the DJs are known for their group effort, each boasts an impressive catalog of solo house hits, including Ingrosso's collaboration with Dirty South and David Guetta, "How Soon Is Now"; "Show Me Love," Angello and Laidback Luke's remix of Robin S's 1993 club hit; and the Axwell and Dirty South remix of the Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition."
The trio's evolution from celebrated solo DJs to superstars was underscored when almost 100,000 fans gathered in late March to catch a Swedish House Mafia performance at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami.

Friday's (March 26) interview slate may have been littered by torrential downpours and flash floods on Collins Avenue, but sure didn’t damped the spirit or pace of the MTV News team as we dove head first into day three of the 2010 Winter Music Conference.
We started off chatting with the Italian duo Crookers, made famous by their remixes of both Kid Cudi ("Day and Night") and Timbaland ("The Way I Are"). Then we moved on to Deadmau5, the winner of the Best American Producer award at Thursday's International Dance Music Awards (despite the fact that he is actually Canadian). Tommy Lee even joined Mau5 and provided us a history of how they met.
Later, trance world leaders and creators of the legendary Anjunabeats collection Above & Beyond joined us and chatted about their explosion over the last 10 years and their historic performance to a crowd of one million...

The third day of Wmc 2010 proved to be monstrous. We started our afternoon with a chat with DJ A-Trak, whose highly anticipated Fool's Gold showcase would ultimately close out our night. From there, the day snowballed into controlled insanity as we caught up with Calvin Harris, up and coming artist Burnes, Ngdj winners Maya Vanya, industry sage DJ Dan, rising star Dennis Ferrer, prolific producer/DJ Kaskade, electro rockers Shiny Toy Guns and of course the insanely huge David Guetta. And that was all before lunch.
The afternoon temperatures soared into the 80s and our interviews only got hotter. We had the honor of hosting a long chat with the godfather of all dance music Tiesto and followed that up with chats with Deep Dish member Sharam, fresh and funky DJ Riva Starr and finally the legendary Paul Oakenfold.
After briefly regrouping, and a quick shower, it...

As the youngest winner in "Idol" (Sweden) history, Agnes Carlsson has spent the past year making waves in the world of electronic and dance music. The 22-year-old stunner has galvanized a worldwide fan base with her international smash hit "Release Me," moving over 700,000 copies around the globe. Not bad for a girl from Stockholm who wasn't even voted into the competitions' Top 12 (the judges had to use their executive powers to put her through to the finals of the 2005 season).
Since then, her success has only blossomed. Singles from her third album Dance Love Pop have been released in 35 countries, and she scored a nomination for Sweden's Best Act at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards. Agnes will make her first trip to Winter Music Conference in Miami this week, taking the stage with established hitmakers like Estelle, Kelis and Macy Gray. She is being dubbed an artist...

Agnes has revealed that she plans to release her hit 'Release Me' in the Us next year. The singer, who rose to fame after winning Swedish Idol in 2005, admitted that she hopes the song will be as successful Stateside as it has been across Europe. "I'm signed to a record company over there and also in Japan, but we don't know exactly when it will be released yet," she told Digital Spy. "America is such a huge country and it's a difficult project to take on. We were over there a couple of weeks ago to do my first promotion. On the second day, they told me it was No. 1 on the Billboard (more)...
