Abner Pastoll is a British film director and screenwriter based in London. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa on February 12, 1982, his family used to run a two screen cinema in Rustenburg. He moved to London with his parents at the age of 2, and although relocating and growing up in the UK, he would still travel back to the family cinema for at least one month out of each year until the cinema closed down in 1999. He started making films at the age of 4, inspired primarily by his family's cinema and his father's film and video equipment. He originally thought he wanted to become an actor but soon discovered that he preferred being behind the camera.
Abner's debut Road Games (2015) is a UK-France co-production by February Films in London and Superbe Films in Paris. IFC Films released the film in limited US cinemas on March 4, 2016 and Icon Film Distribution released in the UK and Ireland on August 26, 2016. When it debuted on US Netflix on July 12, 2016, it went straight to #1 as the most popular, most watched film on the streaming service for 3 consecutive days.
