As of 2018, the year of his retirement, he has contributed with the sound department of seven films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Ordinary People (1980), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Broadcast News (1987), The Godfather Part III (1990), JFK (1991), Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) and Dunkirk (2017). Of those, Ordinary People (1980) is a winner in the category.

During his acceptance speech at the BAFTA Awards for Best Sound for his work on Dunkirk (2017), he mentioned that the film was his 207th and last, as he was officially retiring (Royal Albert Hall London / 18 February 2018).
