Han Jong Gu asks Do Hyeon to take his case and reduce his sentence. In return, he promises to tell who Kim Sun Hee is. Meanwhile, Nurse Cho who helped Do Hyeon and Yu Ri when they were young gets into trouble. She gets arrested for overdosing and killing a patient.

The prosecutor in charge of Nurse Cho's case finds out her past relationship with the victim, Kim Sung Jo. He reindicts her for murder. While preparing for Nurse Cho's case, Do Hyeon finds out the horrific crime Kim Sung Jo committed. Meanwhile, Chun Ho gets suspicious of Do Hyeon's relationship with Han Jong Gu and does a background check.

While going through her father's keepsakes, Yu Ri finds out that someone was behind her father's death. Chun Ho finds out that Choi Pil Soo, whom he arrested for murder 10 years ago, is Do Hyeon's father. Meanwhile, Yu Ri heads to the house of Noh Sun Hu, a prosecutor her father met before he died.

Do Hyeon, Chun Ho, Yu Ri, and Ms. Jin share what they've found out so far and realize that they were after a bigger criminal than they thought. Later, they find a lead to figure out who Cho Ki Tak is. Meanwhile, Chairman Oh threatens Choi Pil Soo to never disclose the report he's holding.

Yu Ri finds out that Ms. Jin is the late Noh Sun Hu's mother. She shares with Ms. Jin what she found out through her father's notes. Ms. Jin also finds her son's death suspicious, so she asks Yang In Beom, the prosecutor Sun Hu was close to, for help. Meanwhile, Do Hyeon and Chun Ho find out that Cha Ki Tak is Nurse Cho's brother.

Chun Ho and Do Hyeon go to meet Han Jong Gu. They're convinced that Heo Jae Man is Cho Ki Tak and investigate Cho Ki Tak's whereabouts when Kim Sun Hee was murdered. Cho Ki Tak, who's on the run, stabs a detective who's been following him.

Chun Ho tells Ms. Jin he'll bring her son's camera to her and when the camera is found at Cho Ki Tak's house, Ms. Jin becomes heartbroken. Do Hyeon and Chun Ho lures Cho Ki Tak to his sister's house where he gets stabbed by Hwang Gyo Sik.

Do Hyeon and Chun Ho continue to look for Hwang Gyo Sik, and they add more people to their list of possible masterminds. However, Chairman Oh's people try to do whatever it takes to end the trial as soon as possible so that they can keep the truth hidden. Meanwhile, Ki Tak's trial starts, and with no evidence or witnesses, Do Hyeon pleads guilty to all charges.

Yu Ri and Do Hyeon find out the truth behind Yu Ri's father's death. While they both understand one another, it's still hard for them to accept it. But before they could come to terms with what they learned, Ki Tak's second trial comes up, and there is an unexpected turn of events. Meanwhile, Jenny Song appears in front of Do Hyeon and gives him some information about that night at Hwaye, ten years ago.

Do Hyeon was found at the scene where Jenny was murdered, holding a gun in his hand. Chun Ho can't believe that Do Hyeon did it. However, Yu Ri, Ms. Jin, and Chun Ho weren't the only ones that rushed over when they heard this news.

Do Hyeon finally applies for his father's retrial. As the police, prosecution, and the judiciary need to make a decision, it might not work out as expected. Along with the evidence Chun Ho and Do Hyeon have been gathering, another version of that day is revealed by Choi Pil Soo.

Do Hyeon hears from Chief Yang that someone was following him. It must be because of the inspection report. Ms. Jin, Chun Ho, and Yu Ri prepare themselves to go up against Chu Myeong Geun, Congressman Park, and Chairman Oh. As the retrial progresses, more shocking truths come unveiled.
