I really enjoyed this novella! It’s a quick, compelling read with cool worldbuilding, some nice character moments, and a great, twisty narrative that legitimately kept me guessing. Other highlights:

—The DRAGON!!! I’m not a big dragon person but I really connected with the way Youngblood played around with the fantasy dragon trope

—The Vilskje. They’re shapeshifting insects and one of the more unique fantasy races I’ve seen in a while.

Windlyn Vale is apparently a prequel for a longer series. It sets up the world well, and I’m excited to read future installments!
