I could totally relate to Jessica and I understood her problems because I have had similar ones. I was depressed at times throughout the book because well I've felt the same things she has and to read those feelings again makes me sad. Not everyone is like us (I am referring to the kind of person Jessica is). I think it's a good read for 15-16 year olds. It is kind of crude at times but it didn't bother me although I wouldn't recommend it to 13, 14 year olds.
Most say the 1st and 2nd books are the only ones that are meant to be read and the rest are a let down. So instead of having to go through the disappointment I'll probably just read the second one sometime else but that's it. ...more

I might make it my new tradition or something. I just needed something holidayish to read because winter seemed so depressing and well I finally gave in and read this. I feel like I finally got my holiday high. I feel like singing christmas carols and doing goofy stuff even though christmas was 5 days ago. I think this is the perfect book to read. Now I am probably going to go on a journey and read all the christmasy novels I can find. I am not calm enough to even gush about everything because I feel so hyper. Like a 8 year old Cooper! :D ...more

I've been looking for a character like Nasty, since well I finished the Hex Hall series and when I found Nasty. I fell in love. She is my kind of character. She is funny and realistic and she makes the whole book a fun read. For the first time in a while I'd say that if this book had the crappiest romance ever I wouldn't have cared because Nasty would have made it sound funny. That's what I like about her. She is relatable as well, we don't go through all the things she goes through because we are mortals but while reading it, it seems as though we have. I am curious about some things but why oh why is it over? What do I do now? ...more

It probably does deserve a higher rating but I never felt the spark, I couldn't connect. There was no revelation or something. I guess we know what this book was about but really... I don't know. Is it about what happened to her? Is it about her situation with her family? Is it about her relationship with Ryan? I was annoyed with her whole take on the rape. I think the author doesn't exactly overdo it because I think that's what happens to most victims. They go into this state of messedupness (it isn't a word but you get the point). But this book doesn't give much hope. It's so bleak until the very end and even then I am not sure. I wish there was more going on. I wish she had resolved family issues. I also wish her family didn't suck but what can I do about that? I think Ryan's and Carly's relationship wasn't all that great either. I mean I was hoping to see more of them. More of him trying to help her come in terms with what happened. But none of that happened. I am also not sure how they ended up sleeping together but ah well. I think one of the more disappointing parts about their relationship how she reacted to Ryan knowing. I think it was completely unfair how she ignored him. I don't think she deserved him. Maybe I am overreacting but how does one expect me to be okay with it? Here is this guy who is trying to break through to her. He doesn't even ask questions, doesn't push her or anything and he tries to be there but she doesn't let him. I think the ending was somewhat satisfying although I was hoping (view spoiler)[ that we would here Ryan's voice on the phone at least before she ended the book (hide spoiler)]. I am sad right now because I have this huge standards for Aussie writers and well I am disappointed because I expected so much when going into this book. I read Easy a while back and it deals with the same issues and in that book you see the main character trying to do something. I guess this book was technically better but Easy gets bonus points for entertainment, for being more easy to read (no pun intended) and not making me feel so depressed....more

Also why is Aiden always the only thing on her mind. No matter how many times she says she cares about others it's obvious her freaking world revolves around Aiden. Their relationship isn't even cute. It's about two horny people who cannot control their hormones. They cannot be in the same room without wanting to rip each other's clothes off so how can they actually fall in love because what the hell do they think about except wanting to give in to their hormones. Seth Seth Seth, I kinda liked him in the last book but I always thought he was fishy but I didn't thing Jennifer would make him this pathetic. Really? Mommy issues=giving in to people who pretend to love you. Wow. Also the whole Alex Seth thing, that's pathetic as well. It shows how desperate Alex is. AND WHY THE HELL CANNOT SHE CONFRONT SETH??? She says she is going to kill him but SHE NEVER GODDAMN ASKS HIM ANYTHING! And then she keeps on going on and on about how he isn't the one at fault blah blah blah. UGH! okay rant over. Aside from all the problems above I gave this book a 3 because there is finally some good mythology.
What's even worse is that despite everything I say, I am addicted. I am waiting for the sequel, eagerly....more

I started it off just for the sake of continuing a series but after the last book I had no expectations. I guess in a way that made the experience of reading this book even better because in this book there was a lot more mythology going on than there was in the last book. What I don't get though is (view spoiler)[ why she had to kill Caleb, that was one thing I was hoping would go different than Vampire Academy (hide spoiler)]. I was making some mental comparisons to Vampire Academy while reading this and well I guess Jennifer did have a different approach on some things but still that doesn't keep me from missing the characters from VA. It's like reading the same story again with a different plot. Maybe that's why I cannot give this book a better rating no matter how good it is Mead is the creator and if Jennifer get's the credit for her work, that's just sad. I do look forward to reading the next book and I am excited as to how this series will conclude but I hope that whoever reads this series has read Vampire Academy. ...more
