The Love Story: Ash has a job as a cleaning woman at the Halcyon Building that is owned by the Constantine’s and house their corporate offices. Ash is working as a cleaning lady because her father spent her college fund on his new wife. Winston makes Ash an offer she can’t refuse.
There were things about this story I didn’t like. I knew going in that Winston likes darkness and I know that there are many people in the BDSM lifestyle that get off on erotic humiliation, but some of the things Winston liked were not erotic. He just liked to see Ash embarrassed. I don’t get it. I mean he made her wear high heels that were very high when she couldn’t walk in heels, because he wanted to see her stumbling and falling in public. Not that I get why people like erotic humiliation (like being called names, treated as pets, etc..). I never got that either, but I know it is a thing.
Aside from that, I really liked this book. I liked that Win and Ash were into some kinky things. I liked that despite thinking Winston was a bit of a perv, Ash was into the kink. Though she did have conflicting feelings, they were more about the fact that she liked the things Win did to her or had her do and not that she was feeling forced or anything like that. I also really loved the storyline and I wish it wasn’t a cliffhanger. Now I can’t wait for the next book.

I truly enjoyed his over-the-top character cuz it made for great entertainment, but the way he had to remind us on almost every page of his net worth and how rich and powerful he was -

They were both entertaining characters, and this would have been a 3 stars for me if it weren’t for the lack of connection and emotional development between them.
Winston and Ash went from 0 to 60 way too fast for my three braincells to catch up. He just saw her gagging on a breadstick and decided she’s his and while I really love that energy, I need more.
I also didn’t really care for the plot, but bc I was thoroughly entertained and I’m kinda curious what Ash’s next steps will be, I’ll be reading the rest of the series. I wanna see how it all plays out and I’m hoping for all the emotional build up the first instalment was lacking.

5 "Not-So-Average" Stars!
... A so hot read.
This book deserves all the love from me. It left me with a shit-eating grin on my face, so perfect stars!

I saw this one from a friend on my feeds. I loved her review, so I added it. After a day or two, I saw another review of it. I loved it again. It really was a perfect timing because I was in the mood for those kind of books. So, I decided to read it.
Stroke of Midnight is a retold of the well-known classic Cinderella. Cinderella was boring. This was steamy hooottt. Just exactly what I wanted to be.
Money can buy anything and anyone. Ask Winston. I liked the idea that he used his wealth to beguile women. Especially her.
Ash was broke after her father stole her college fund just for his personal reasons. He hastened to assure her that her stepmother would pay for it. She didn't want to owe her so she took the job as a maid in Halcyon.
Winston was the CEO of Halcyon. Ash did something unacceptable in his office that needed punishment. When he saw her personally, he changed his mind and offered Ash a much better job. A job that she only had to obey to his commands and he would pay for it. Ash was very desperate for money, agreed.
This was her first job that was worth eight hundred dollars, based on her negotiation:
This book is a great combination of ridiculousness, weirdness, dirtiness, kinkiness, and hotness that I really like. There's something unique in it that made me desire for more. Honestly, I read this one slower than my usual pace. It was just so good. Every words. I never wanted it to end! Then the cliffhanger happened. Okay. Shit. Where's the sequel?
Overall, I totally enjoyed the story. It is simply brilliant. K. Webster just did it again. She's definitely one of the best author when it comes to forbidden and taboo romances. I highly recommend her books if you love this trope!

When Ash Elliot finds out her college fund is gone, working as a made in none other than Winston Constantine's Halycon building, it's her only option—because there's no way she will let her stepmother pay for it. Everything goes to hell when she messes up, but instead of being fired, Winston comes up with a new job offer, a game of delicious kinky perversions that sucked me in completely and had me turning the pages faster and faster.
In Stroke of Midnight, there's no Prince Charming, just Winston Constantine, the villain you come to love, and Ash, our Cinderelliott, a sassy little thing that doesn't leave behind her slipper but a candy wrapper.
And there's no Cinderella without her stepsisters, but in this story, we don't have two, but three, and they are called the Terror Triplets, and let me tell you that these guys made me question my morals, their brand of evilness was delicious, and they need their own book.
What I love the most was the fact that the author took only little bits from the actual story, delivering a concept that, in true K. Webster fashion, is sinfully addictive and outrageously sexy.

I'm a sucker for twisty takes on fairy tales. Make them dark and depraved, and I'm putty in your hands. PUTTEH I tell you. And Stroke of Midnight was definitely depraved. In a strangely delicious way.
Now let's be clear here. I wasn't sure how I felt after reading it. Do I feel dirty or turned on? Both? I still don't know. All I know is that I'm not usually big on the particular kink practiced here. Sexual humiliation isn't my forte. What? Don't look at me like that. It's not. Unless it's pulled off well, and it was, in this case.
If you're a fan of age gap, this will certainly hit the spot as the heroine just hit 18 and the hero is in his 30s. Daddy issues? Yes, m'am. This girl has them. Instead of evil stepsisters, she has evil triplet stepbrothers. Yes, you read that right. Triplets. Ash herself was a spitfire. She's not afraid to give as hard as she takes and the girl is a fighter.
So with all that, why only three stars? Well, because I just never fully connected to them as a couple. They seemed to go from 0 to 60 straight into kinkville, population two, and I was left in the dust. Their connection just didn't register for me...yet. And I say yet because this was enough to hook me to want to read the next. Granted I had no idea this wouldn't be a standalone, so the cliff definitely caught me off guard. But I'm intrigued enough to want to read the next book to see how it all comes together and hope for the connection that I was lacking here to be built there.
If you're a fan of some kinky f@ckery, age gap, sassy heroes, and broody alpha holes, this book just may do the trick for you.

I don’t consider this necessarily five star worthy, but I five star enjoyed it! It had a slight “50 shades parody” feel to it, with the billionaire man, and the slightly naïve, younger woman. No virgins here, both have had previous partners.

We are left with a cliffhanger at the end, and I have so many questions. There are a few characters I didn’t trust, and I am dying to see how they play out. I can’t wait to see what is next for Ash and Winston.

👠 she was broke, desperate and alone
Winston Constantine seemed to have it all - looks, wealth, success, etc. His family owned the city. He could have any woman he wanted. When Ash made herself into a target, he was only too willing to pay her to follow his lead. Money for humiliation. Cash for degradation.
When feelings get in the way, feelings Winston wants nothing to do with, how will this change the dynamic of their relationship?
While I failed to connect with these characters and I didn't fall in love with the plot, by the end, I was hooked. I'm eager to find out more about the rivalry between the Constantines and the Morellis. I need to know what's going on. Will Ash grow the heck up and be the woman Win needs? Will those stepbrothers get the kind of punishment they so richly deserve? Will Win give into his feelings for Ash?
So in the end, I liked it. The banter between the characters was hilarious. The intimate scenes were super kinky. The push and pull was ridiculous. I have no idea where this story is going because the ending was intense, so I'm really looking forward to reading the next book, Prince Charming. January 26th can't come soon enough!

I will never give up on MF books, but God they are all the same!!!!! UGH!!!! 😤😤
Stroke of Midnight had everything that I don't understand from MF:
- A main guy who's a jerk, rich, entitled, "isn't looking for love" and who also throws money at everything that moves. 🙄🙄🙄
- A bad family who fucks with the heroine.
- Toxic situations where the heroine, instead of running, keeps coming back for more.
- A 18 year old girl, is like us old ladies don't get some action. (pff, I'm only 27 but this books make me feel like that)
I didn't mind the kink until I did and I didn't mind the dirty talk, me likes that. But the kink stopped being fun when Winston started dismissing Ash's needs because he's a bad, bad boy and doesn't know HOW TO FUCKING HUG SOMEONE FOR AFTERCARE!!! FOR FUCKS SAKE!! He just took and took and took and spected her to be there, FUCK. YOU.
And then we had the situations with the triplets, Ash kept coming back to that house, I don't get why!!! And then every time they did something bad to her, she was surprised and started to beg! GET THE HELL OUT! YOU HAVE MONEY! RENT A FUCKING ROOM AND DISAPPEAR! I know that was needed for the whole Cinderella thing but it wasn't believable, AT ALL!!
I'm not going to even start on that ending, wtf all over it, no can do compadre. BUT, I actually liked the heroine so that's something, she was bratty, fierce and strong, until faced with the triplets WICH I DON'T GET. She knew what she was doing, she knew she was with a bad guy, she knew she liked kink and accepted it eventually and she knew her standing in the relationship. I respected that.

This was based loosely on Cinderella... and I mean... VERY loosely! It was dark and quite kinky! Lol! If kink is not your thing, you will want to give this a pass! As for me.. I very much enjoyed it. Normally, humiliation sex is not my cuppa; but in this story, it totally worked!! I also loved how our anti-hero ends up having a soft spot... although the poor heroine had to dig extremely deep to find it!

This book ,oooooh this book is so HAWT!
Ash Elliott our modern-day cinderella who has wicked stepsistersbrothers,not-so-caring stepmother who her father happens to like a lot. Her father starts to use all of her college funds to impress her stepmother because of which she is forced to work as a cleaner and she is not good at her work, which in turn gains the attention of Winston Constantine.
Winston is filthy rich,he has rules and expects everyone to follow it,he won't tolerate any insults towards Constantine name.He makes a deal with Ash, she is the only one who seems to fit his needs and kink. I liked all his dirty talk.
Overall I enjoyed this book it is erotic and has the right amount of steam

Stroke of Midnight grabbed me from the first page and wouldn't let go until the last. I loved everything about this Cinderella retelling. From the intense Alphaness of Winston to the bravery and strength of lovely Ash. Oh, and did I mention age gap romance is my #1 favorite of all? K. Webster absolutely nails the genre in this story. She can’t be bought, but she really needs the money. They exchange goods. Eventually, lines go blurry. Feelings get involved.
K. Web Web did it again. My personal highlight – next to all the steamy smut and the impeccably hot characters – was the leading lady’s bird. I love her for that. She cares so much for her bird, and I just have so much respect for that. UGH! The banter between the leads is crazy cool. There are a lot of snappy moments. This story had me invested from the get go. The transaction-ship that develops between the two leads is steamy and awfully cute at times, too. There’s lots of angst. I was fully entertained, and I can’t wait to see where this goes next. I recommend this to all the lovers of steam, feisty leading ladies, and hot hot HOT leading men that’ll do anything to get what they want.
