"The Adharm was dead. And the Dharm was crying for him"

If you have read Kevin's earlier novels then there is no need to give an introduction to this book. Mahayodhya Kalki: Sword of Shiva is the final book of the Kalki trilogy written by Kevin Missal. I have been an ardent fan of the series from the time when I read the first book. I was really eager & excited about this final one for a long time & now finally my waiting ended. I have completed the series.

This is the beginning of the end. Kalki Hari arrives at Indragarh to find out that his brother has been taken prisoner, his beloved is about to be butchered & the City is embroiled in a ghastly war with the Naga queen & Dakshini king. Armed with a mighty sword forged by a God, he fights to take the city back from his nemesis, the evil Kali. But the avatar of Vishnu is at a crossroads. It is his destiny to fight the last battle with Adharm & obliterate evil from this world. However, he has stumbled upon a terrible truth over the course of his journey. A truth that may change everything. Will Kalki be able to win against Adharm & fulfill his destiny? Or will the world lose its greatest hero & head towards destruction?

Pros:

⚔️The cover was absolutely fabulous like the last two books, there is no doubt about that & the title Sword of Shiva is perfectly fitting because in the first half of the book Kalki spend to find this sword which got linked to his body & the other half using it.

⚔️Loved the way Kevin had meticulously crafted this entire world of Illavarti where Manavs, Nagas, Suparnas, Yakshas, Apsaras, Vanras, Asuras, Danvas, Rakshas & Pisachas are dwelled, which reminds me of the Percy Jackson series.

⚔️Overall the plot was superb; the pacing was fast; the language used was very simple; the writing style was smooth. The different twists & turns that keep coming in the story really keeps the reader's interest intact & compels you to read more & more.

⚔️Female characters were very strongly portrayed here, whether it is Padma, or Mansa or Durkti, Ratna Maru, even Alaskhmi & Kadru also; each & every one of them had their own individual personality. Instead of following the male characters passively, they always fight for their own beliefs & never submit to their enemies without a fight.

⚔️The Idea of channeling power which the Dharm & the Adharm uses was really innovative. The way Kevin had shown in how many different ways it can be used is mind-blowing & superb & those scenes where Kalki & Arjan interacted with their past selves were very interesting to read.

⚔️My favorite character is Arjan. He might have killed many but unlike Kali, he has never been a psychopath killer who enjoys killing others. At the end, when he became aware that it was he who was Adharm, not Kali, the way he sacrifices his life to save the world from destruction, makes him the 2nd hero of the story.

Cons:

⚔️Didn't like the way Manasa character is drawn....she committed so many atrocities on the citizens of Indragarh but at the end still returns to her capital victorious without getting any punishment or realization that she committed something wrong... doesn't appeal to me.

⚔️Manasa attacks on Indragarh along with his Suparnas & Dakshini armies in order to avenge his brother's murder from Kali without knowing whether Kali still reigning on Indragarh or not & Indragarh entered into a long protracted battle with them without even bothering to know the reason of the attack is totally absurd.

⚔️The scene where Manasa was bitten by a cobra but still, she attacks Kadru & killed her by continuously dashing her head with a stone & she still survive was totally unbelievable. That happens only in serials, 😅 not in real life.

⚔️The final confrontation between the Dharm & the Adharm & its result was even if quite expected but still well unveiled was quite unexpected. However, I didn't expect it to be concluded within a single chapter, as if the ending was written hastily. I was hoping to read more.

Overall for me, it was an amazing trilogy. Sometimes I wish it never ended. If you're a reader, doesn't matter whichever genre is your favorite, you should really go for the series. I would highly recommend the series to everyone.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dharm & Adharm.

The concept is easy to understand but difficult to identify. The third part of the book not only kept me on tenterhooks till the end but also made everyone aware that nothing is what it seems. The Kalki avatar has finally fulfilled his mission and is all the sadder for it.

What I loved above the book is its pacing. Everything seems to happen at once. There is no waiting. You just have to turn the pages and once you start the book you will have no qualms on doing that. The world-building is just great. The way he mentioned different tribes and their characteristics are good. I also liked the concept of Channeling. It is fresh.

There are some instances that I don't agree with especially when Manasa killed a certain someone. Then I don't liked the way the book ended, it was quite unnecessary but fitting.

Overall, a great ending to a great trilogy. Highly recommended!

The third and the final book of the Kalki trilogy - Mahayoddha Kalki: Sword of Shiva by Kevin Missal is an amazing read. A tale of love, friendship, adventure, blended with Mythology and philosophy - a journey that started in the first book, Dharmayoddha Kalki, continued through the second book, Satyayoddha Kalki, finally concludes in the third book, Mahayoddha Kalki.

I have been an ardent fan of the series from the time when I read the first book. And was really eager and excited about this final one.

The story begins with Kalki Hari arriving at the city of Indragarh to find out that his brother, Arjan has been taken prisoner, his beloved is about to be executed, and the City is embroiled in a horrifying war with the Naga queen and Dakshini king. Armed with a mighty sword forged by a God, he fights to take the city back from his arch-enemy, the evil Kali. But, Kalki, the avatar of Vishnu is at a crossroads. It is his destiny to fight the last battle with adharm and obliterate evil from this world. However, he has stumbled upon a terrible truth over the course of his journey... A truth that may change everything. Will Kalki be able to win against adharm and fulfil his destiny?

Read the book to know how the fantastical and adventurous journey of Kalki Hari ends.

The author has brilliantly portrayed a fictional world, beautifully used the mythological and fantastical elements in the novel. The character of Kalki has developed over the three books. This book was fast-paced and the writing style was descriptive and full of twists and turns. Some parts were a bit rushed, and the ending could have been a bit better.

Recommending this book to fans of mythological fiction.

I would love to give 5 stars from the bottom of my heart except my brain doesn't want to.
The story was exceptionally good. There were few characters like shuko, devadutta etc which were my favourites.... The only thing that really pisses me off is there is no mention of the Eye of Brahma

There is only a couple of mentions in third installment of the series.... If you have a weapon which can see the past present and the future, you know, as a writer, you can create and put forward some ground breaking plots related to it.... So, it is actually disappointing to never witness anything as such at all...

Let me tell you one thing about this book before I begin. There is only one place where this book belongs. A TRASH CAN.

I picked up this so that I could finish the trilogy. The previous two books had decent build up, though I wasn't much satisfied with the second book. So I thought I might get a decent closure once I finish this book. It turned out to be a huge disappointment.

My biggest issue and concern about this book is that the author has villenified the avatars. Govind aka Krishna, Bajrang aka Hanuman, Bhargava aka Parshuram, Raghav aka Ram. There is also turning villains in our mythology into good characters. This started towards the end of the previous book but I thought it might be just one character. But no.

The author is absolute idiot when it comes to Indian mythological characters. He has failed to understand them. He has failed to understand the significance of them.

Throughout the book the author is confused whom to turn into villain. So he experiments with every character and fails. One might think that the author wants the reader to think that there is no single antagonist. Even the antagonist has some good in it. I might have agreed to this but towards the end all of a sudden, characters start dying. Author tries to put in one chapter that the "Avatars realized their mistakes". This is utter bullshit. Bhargava or Parshuram is shown completely villainous. The author doesn't have the sense that Avatars were sent to Earth to neutralize the evil. Is it that difficult to understand?

The climax is height of bullshit. Author was in so much rush that he finishes climax in 20 odd pages. It is pathetically written.

Please stay away from this book and the whole trilogy. You will be disappointed in the end. You might want to shred this book to the last page. Unfortunately, if you read it once you can't undo it.

Book review
Book mahayoddha kalki :sword
This book is a last and 3rd book of kalki trilogy .and can be read as standalo ne too as many hints are given for the backstory in the book.the story revolves around kalki, the protagonist, Kali and Arjan.padma is the female interest of kalki and other major characters are Manasa the Naga queen , nalkuber the yaksha king.the story starts with kalki looking for sword of shiva and after many surprising turns involving jambvan , lord parashuram and ashvathama.he comes to know that is dharam incarnate and his brother arjan is adharm .whom he has to kill
How kalki and arjan reconciles wid the fact that they have to kill each, other is the climax of the book.whether kalki kills arjanor vice versa , one has to read the book
My take is is full of twists and turns as friends become foes and foes help in time of need.kalki quest for sword of shiva episode fully illustrates it.however the treatment of lord parashuram , who is generally revered is totally unexpected.jambvan and lord bajrang are given more human qualities . And vibhishan , the manav is shown as merrymaking guy However the thinking of Manasa towards Apsara s in war is more of feminist treatment which normally not applicable to war .
This book is long read of 350 plus pages.Go for it if mythology fantasy genre which is the flavour of the current time

Was waiting for this book since a long time, after reading the first two books of the series, I was really excited to know how this story will end. And, the different twists that keep coming in the story really keeps the reader's interest intact... "Manasa" character was my favourite in the story... The war strategies that she adopts and the way she fights is amazing.. The last confrontation between "Dharma" and "Adharma" is equally amazing...

It was a great fantasy series that comes to an end with this book, and I have totally loved the journey of Kalki, Kali, Arjan...

I enjoyed my time reading this book...

Amazing....!!!

Author has kept the people stick to the book in all three parts. He has kept upto to the expectations from his first book itself.

This book is the conclusion of the kalki the avtar of vishnu and kalki the eye of bhrama. He has beautifully ended the book bby killing all evils by good ones plus a big surprise of who is dharma and who is adharma?
Which was little bit confusing in the last book. Also the eye of bhrama which has a power was useless in this book which was used only once by manasa and other than that eye of bhrama is nowhere.
This book ends with the end of evils by kalki, padma and manasa. Overall i would say it's a great saga to read at a stretch. This saga starts in small town sambhala and ends in sambhala. Overall a good goodread.... 🙂

I liked the rush of the plot,it indeed made it a page turner; but the twists and turns didn't hit hard enough bcoz of that, it could've been more impactful. Also the climax could've been more elaborative and could've offered more solid philosophical conclusion to the story.
I loved Arjan's character the most. <3

I'm quite intrigued to read the original 'Kalki Purana' because of the way kevin represented this story. Kudos to author

The novel, "Mahayoddha Kalki: Sword of Shiva", by Kevin Missal, the third and last book of Kalki Trilogy, is fabulous, I couldn't think of any other word. The story takes a lot of twists and turns as it progresses making it a compelling fiction. The heroes and villains keep changing like shapeshifters throughout the story. There's nothing much to say about the book as it is just- no adjective to define it. Just go and read it. I'm sure you won't regret reading this...

Kalki is still on his journey to meet and be trained by Lord Bhargav to be Dharam to win against kali. Kalki on arriving at Indragarh is shocked to know that his brother has been held prisoner. His beloved is about to be killed. Will Kalki be able to win the city back from the Evil Kali? Will his war against the adharm be victorious? Or will the adharm be winning this time? Read the book to know.

Just like the previous two books, the third and final book has also lived up to my expectations, or rather I would say it has surpassed it. One of the plus points of this book are Kevin Missal’s writing, lucid language and yet a gripping narration. There were many moments in the book which I felt were very unpredictable. The story just held me though it till the last page. I could easily relate to the characters, especially Kalki, his choices and state of mind was convincingly written. All the characters and their storylines which are unfinished in the earlier two books, get well written conclusions in this one. They move in perfect pace with the main storyline and to know how it all is linked together is fascinating. The storyline is drenched in drama and lots of morals, leading to some wonderful dialogues which definitely offer something to learn for the readers. There are lot of twists, some of which seem not so impactful, however that's only if I'll be nitpicking. In fact, I think this would be my most favourite book in the whole series.

Kevin Missal does a wonderful job of handling so many characters and not making any of them sound boring. Usually when there are lot of characters in a book, the reader finds it difficult to keep up with each one of them, however, In Kalki – 3 the characters and their arcs, their beliefs and their destinies are so well portrayed that you just get curious with every page as to know what would be happening of them in the coming chapters.

+BOTTOMLINE-A great end to the journey of the Kalki avatar.

+WHAT I LIKED-
-> Author has no difficulty in sentence framing and delivers the story with ease to the readers.
->Author has left no loose ties when it comes to every character's lives.
-> The unexpected twists and turns you won't see coming.
->Sudden elevation and escalation of scenes.
->The concept of other avatars helping is just fantastic and adds more beauty to the book! :)

+WHAT I DISLIKED-
->The title is a little deceiving because not just Kalki, every character including the villains' is given equal priority in character development and book-space.
->When it comes to war strategies, there are no strategies used/planned at all.
->The end to the Adharm is not satisfyingly in my perspective.
->Too many side plots disturbs the main story you want to convey. More priority to Kalki's life and his story should have been given, given the title atleast. :)

+CONCLUSION- Read it with 0 expectations, you will enjoy it thoroughly!

This is the 3rd and final book in the Kalki trilogy.
The previous books have already managed to steal their readers heart and attention, this book is no exception to that.

I haven't read the previous books of the trilogy but after reading this, I wanna read the whole trilogy!

All credit goes to the authors engaging writing style that binds the reader to the story from the 1st chapter of the book itself.

The narrative techniques were pretty unique and were employed well in the story.

The way the author manages to blend mythology with fantasy is truly commendable and it makes these books worth a read.

Though the level of the book seems quite elevated, its a perfect book to start off with if you're looking to get into the fantasy genre!

The story does slow down in the between but quickly picks up its pace.

The character development is on point, even the supporting characters are well developed.

I've read, Ravan putra meghnad by the same author and it gave me the opportunity to view this authors work from a wider perspective and different angles.

Overall, this was an enthralling and engaging read. Would surely recommend it.

MY RATING: 4/5

Mahayoddha Kalki is the third and the final book in the Kalki series by Kevin Missal. Those who have read the previous releases will not find it difficult to follow the story. If not, I would highly recommend to read the first two prior to proceeding with this. This isn't a hard and fast rule though because, if you are good with in reading and grasping the details, you can still manage to understand the story by buying this third book, direct.

There is a difference when it comes to writing a fiction and a non-fiction. While the latter is based on facts which cannot be changed. It can be told as it is or with some addition(without changing the actual context). On the other hand, fiction needs greater attention especially when it is released in parts. This is because, the story has to be perfect and the characters should be linked without any overlap or otherwise. Since readers are real good in grasping the contents, even a small error could be picked up by them and highlighted.

Kevin, who had his struggles like others when he was a kid has went on to become a National Best Seller with his Kalki series. It did not happen overnight. Each and every book in this series runs for not less than 350+ pages which means, the raw version would have been almost twice the size, if not more. This isn't a joke.

In this third book, you could expect the unexpected. I was literally shocked when I realized as to who was "Adharm". While we(the readers) had a notion about someone else in this place, the real one came as a shock. There are too many characters in the story but yes, if you have read the previous books, you wouldn't find it difficult. Moreover, if it is about an historical fiction, these are absolutely necessary.

The Naga Queen Manasa was trying to kill the Yaksha King Nalakuvera. She was ably assisted by Airavan and Captain Jaratkaru(who was serving them since Lady Kadru's reign). It was Manasa who defeats Kadru and saves Tarakshya. She forms an alliance with Vibhishan.

There was a parallel story involving Padma - Daughter of Vibhishan and Bajrang.

Nalakuvera makes Arjan, the King. Ratna Maru also wanted to avenge Nalakuvera.

While Kalki and Arjan were the brothers, they were in different places fighting their own wars. It was an unexpected twist when you come to know about their relationship with Kali, the erstwhile King of Indragarh. He voluntarily comes to help Arjan though Arjan badly wanted to kill him for the loss of his friends. He deploys Danavs- the 20 foot giants to fight against the Naga Queen when their kingdom was attacked. Were they able to win the war?

Then there are Maruts who are now called Rudras and Jambhavan, who believed to have the strength of 10,000 Lions. Kalki wanted to kill Jambhavan.

Why?

The fight between Yakshas and Nagas reminded me of the characters - Werewolves and Vampires who were always at loggerheads.

Did Kalki able to lay his hands over the Powerful sword of Lord Shiva?

Did Manasa able to defeat the Manavs?

Why was Guru Narendra not happy with Arjan being crowned as King?

The story takes a lot of interesting twists and turns as and when it progresses making it a compelling fiction and let me alert you that you wouldn't have realized that you have spent a few hours to complete reading this book.....

The reading experience was surreal, what's more, when the novel finished, you feel good but also a little unhappy as you have to move on. The final book of the Kalki trilogy tells the tale of the political and human controls within the build-up to the unfathomable war. A great deal of action is seeded when contrasted with the previous books of the series. Kalki has now matured and learns to reap the full benefits of an avatar.

The characterisation is by and by fabulous, with none of the characters turning out like overwhelming saints that can't be blamed under any circumstance. They all bring something to the story and are quite realistic in their mannerisms and charms. I additionally like that the love and romance in the book don't overwhelm the account – the writer incorporates only a scramble to a great extent to make the characters exuberant and humane. Most of all, the characters do an awesome work of living up to the story and the desires of the reader.

The narration was right on the money. Missal knows how to charm his perusers and is able to do so all through the book. The dialect that he employs is straightforward. He relies on action and adventure to make the book interesting to the reader.. the creator has imbued a ton of subplots to add to the intricacy of the situations and to give the correct sort of tinge to the story, be that as it may, there are some loose ends.

Generally speaking, Mahayoddha Kalki is a book that formulates a fantasy universe that is distinctive yet acceptable. It has the elements of shock and puzzle and lastly, a very tight-knit plot and a convincing account which holds every last bit of it together. It won’t be wrong to mention that the book is a large entertainer; one that's absolute to leave you fascinated with all that it has to offer

"The Adharm was dead. And the Dharm was crying for him"

Kalki continues his journey towards the Mahendragiri mountains to reach the previous Avatar and train under him. Meanwhile, in Illavarti, the politics and betrayal for the throne is at its height. It is the journey of Dharm and Adharm, how they recognise themselves and come to terms with the consequences of their actions.

I'll keep this one short as its the last part and anything I say about the plot or the characters will be a spoiler. I re-read the first two parts before starting this one and surely it was a wise move. It helped me understand the characters and their motives better. Again, the characters were the life of this book where none of them were black or white. It is difficult to hate some characters even after acknowledging all the evil things they've done. But then, that is the brilliance of the author.

There were some moments where I felt that the subplots had overshadowed the main plot but their significance is justified by the end.

All I will say for this is that its a must-read finale which is full of emotions, actions and unexpected twists. It encompasses and completes the journey of all the characters which is a bit painful since you get attached to them throughout the series and you're left with a bittersweet feeling after finishing the book. This series will always remain one of my favourites, both in reading and in memories!

Book Review!!
Mahayoddha Kalki- The Sword Of Shiva!!

And here comes the final book of one of the the most beautifully written Mytho-fictional trilogy about the prophecied saviour of the world.. the 10th avatar of Vishnu..Kalki!!

A typical signature Kevin Missal styled narration filled with lots of unimaginable twists and turns..which keeps you glued to the book from start till the end...

But what makes this particular book unique is the fact that this final installment of the trilogy is gonna change the Kalki-verse upside down.. almost every character you've known till the end of book 2 will change its nature and reveal its true Colors 🥺🥺 and what makes it even better? Hell you're gonna hate and love even the most villainous characters at the same time 🥺🥺...

Personally I felt an emotional connection with the book especially few characters like Arjan n.. Kali.. Padma...which is rare.. not every book connects you Emotionally with the characters...

In short..this is a must read book for all the mytho lovers without a doubt!! ❤

A great great great read. The last entry in the Kalki Trilogy is better than the previous two books. Not saying that the previous books were not good, they were exceptional in every sense.
The book is a rapid paced one unlike the previous two which were slow in begining.

The demons have rose, Kalki has finally became an Avatar, Arjan has learn't who he really is, the true prophecy is learnt, Kali is back to fight, Adharm is ready to strike back. Kalki is here with Shuko, Devadutta and Ratna Maru to assist Manasa and Laxhman in their fight against Kali and his evil army and hence to save hus true love Padma and his beloved brother Arjan. Read this amazing book to see will Kalki be able to fight and defeat the ultimate evil and hence defeat Kali the aadharm? Will he succeed?

I cant stop my tears after finishing this griping read. And so will you...

Kevin is good at developing the characters, the plot and we can see what we read, though there are some spelling mistakes in the book 😅

Read it....
Read the series....

Suspense awaits you....

The story starts right from the end of the last book. Kalki is out to finish his journey and Arjan is a prisoner in the city. I can’t really narrate the story because everything is a surprise and a spoiler.
.
I feel like the author had very strong points about what might be Dharm and Adharm in the first book but it has kind of become repetitive and predictable in the third one.
All this said and done, I read the whole book in one go.
.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗔 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘀.

The story and the twists and turns are still very enjoyable and I had to read it because of the cliff hangers in the previous book. The ending broke my heart. I never imagined that Kalki would cry for Adharm in the end.
.
Please read the #kalki series!

Personally,
The ending.. didn’t like it.
Don’t wanna give out much spoilers, but the ending could have been more “reasonable“ because the true protagonist and antagonist were both “reasonable”.
But that’s just me. I guess authors simply like to leave their readers in “happy-sad feeling” state

Predictable book.
for a moment while reading second book of the series, I felt it might get interesting but expectations hurt. LOL!
Kalki = Jon snow + Luke skywalker
Jambavan = master yoda
Padma = arya stark
manasa = dragon queen
Lord raghav = sith lords
it was a stupid mix and match of the characters and had barely any freshness.
worst series with filthy language which did not even suit the plotting.

The entire book was beautiful and a wonderful end to the trilogy, as well as the best book in the trilogy. The channelling with the past by one of the characters was of no much use as shown in the ending parts of the book. I loved the Kali vs Kalki part near the end. I could see the visuals as I read those moments. Very well put.

The first two books in this trilogy were excellent. But, this book was a disappointment. It seemed like the author was struggling to fit in scenes. The scenes which were supposed to give goosebumps were just plain boring and over-dramatic (Maybe because, there wasn't a proper sequence).

The climax was quite disappointing. The way Arjan died was shocking only because it happened so quickly.

The end is disappointing. Things were wrapped up hastily. Other two books were awesome. Read it for the love of Mythology.
