Camille Turner has returned to her home town of Rotherham to open her new business, a childrens play centre. She said she left to pursue her education but in reality she was driven away by the antics of fellow pupil Dylan Ball, whose parting shot, a photo of Camille in tight shorts, earned her the nickname Camille Toe. After swearing revenge as she left the school gates behind her, Camille is reunited with a now older and apologetic Dylan who wants to be friends. She’d tell him to go to Hell but he does genuinely seem sorry. Plus he’s also matured into one sexy male. It’s so unfair. But does Dylan really want to be friends or is it all an act to embarrass her once again?
Includes a Yorkshire/British glossary to teach you some rude slang ;)

All about Dylan Ball. This is a light-hearted comedy. Enemies to lovers.
Camille returns home to Rotherham, her home town. Everyone has grown-up but something’s never change. After a date with her high school crush she realises the one guy she disliked from school may not be as bad as she thought.
Dylan Ball is the source of an unflattering picture of Camille Turner which results in her living out her high school days under the moniker of Camille Toe. It’s forgotten in her years away at college, but now back in town for the opening of her new kids play center business, it’s time for a high school reunion of sorts.
Some parts of the story were cute and had mild humor. Dylan is kinda a cutie in a reformed brat bad boy way. There was certainly potential for the story to be more than what it is, but as it is it fell short for me. Overall it seemed rushed. It’s a quick read, and there’s a lot of drama over romance. Actually there isn’t much romance at all so it’s probably better classified as chick lit. If you’re looking for a sweet love story, this isn’t it.
I found this group of former classmates rather immature, and there’s so much lack of communication for characters in a post college age group, although I’ll admit I wasn’t always sure that time line added up but it could have been a cultural difference.
Told via Camille’s first person POV, Balls is the first in a standalone series. The next book features her brother, and a sample is included.
For someone who normally dislikes novellas, I devoured and swallowed Balls up whole! (Pun intended...)
I am always going to be extra supportive of British authors. And even more so of those who use British terminology. Andie and Balls didn't disappoint!
Camille hadn't had the smoothest of rides through school. She left home to attend university and escape from her main tormentor, Dylan Balls.
Fast forward to graduation and her return home to open her own business. At 21. She'll show them all what she is capable of!!
Of course, being a small town it was a certainty that at some point, Camille's past would catch up with her. This includes her old crush, Jack. Newly divorced 21-year old father of two.
What follows is humorous, almost slapstick comedy! I laughed so much - particularly at what Camille's best friend (Beth) and Mum (Dora) was saying or doing!!
The first of four standalone novellas, I'm excited to see what happens next in the series - and more importantly what happens when Camille's 25 year old brother, Tyler does once he's evicted from living with the parents!!
Thank you, Andie for being in Birmingham with us that day! ❤️
Who'd have thought that an innocent book nerds meet up would have ended up with Andie writing a book based on a vile sweet called ‘ Camels Ball ‘ ? Not me but this novella had me laughing so hard. As much as I love books set in the US there's something familiar about a book set in the UK it's like that could be me, that could be my life and the humor there's nothing quite like the British humor and this book had me laughing out. After Camille is humiliated at high school by Dylan Ball she moves away to uni and the nickname Camille’s toe is forgotten. Fast forward 5 years and Camille is back, she's just about to open her own business when she runs into Dylan Ball and he wants to be friends. He is truly sorry for the hard time he gave Camille at school but can Camilłe forgive and move on epically as 21 year old Dylan is freaking HOT !!!!! What started out as a bit of fun over a weird named sweet has turned into a entertaining novella that I loved. We are also treated to a little bit of Tyler's story but be warned you are going to need him like now !!!!
“I’m forty-five, not dead. Even though I’ve got your dad, I still like to perve at totty.”
“For God’s sake will one of you give your mother a grandchild before she pinches one from someone else.”
“I know it’s not an excuse but in my defense, I remember nothing about the evening. Unfortunately, I was as pissed as a fart. So again, I’m very sorry.”
“‘Jack kissed you? Under the slide?’… ‘Yeah. In the dark. I’m obviously too monstrous to kiss in daylight.’”
“I realize it’s been a long time since a man went anywhere near my lady parts. The only pussy that’s had any play lately has been Bob the cat and his carrier bag.”
My Review:
I barked, snorted, and laughed aloud as I read this delightful little tale. If I could read fun and naughty little stories like this every day, I would spend the rest of my life smiling. Andie M. Long is a new find for me, and it feels like I have stumbled onto treasure. Her writing is crisp, clever, and highly entertaining. I was an instant fan and am already itching to pick up the next one in this series.
I was provided a copy to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review. Its a comedy romantic novella... Camille and Dylan are school mates but she hates him to the core of her heart. After some stupid photo he uploaded on Facebook which broke Camille, she left her hometown for further studies. But after five years, destiny cross their path... Camille had some work in bank, the same bank where Dylan is the assistant manager. After all this while she is still not over what happend, but Dylan tries and gets successful in making ameds with Camille and thus their relationship shoots up. I completed this book in just few hours... It totally enjoyed reading it! The characters were soo relatable to real life! Looking forward to second book, Tyler's book!
A funny, light hearted romance. Set in Yorkshire this book introduces us to Camille's. After been targeted at school by the class clown Camille vows one day to get her own back. After leaving University Camille's forgets all about Dylan and what he did....until they meet again. I loved the characters in this book but especially Camille's parents. The characters are every day people, very easy to relate to and some good funny moments that cracked me up. Looking forward to more from this series
Short novella. Maybe less than 3 stars... it was meh.. it wasn't bad and I finished it but I didn't get any feelings and I'm not interested in continuing.
This was my first book by Andie and I really enjoyed it. It’s a fun, quirky, and quick read that kept me laughing from start to finish. I love romantic comedies and this one is super cute, and I am also in love with the cover.
Camille moved away from her hometown to purse her dreams or so everyone thought. Technically she did go to college to get a degree, but she also wanted to leave behind her nickname Camille Toe and especially the boy who gave it to her Dylan Ball. But now that Camille is back and opening her new business everything is looking up until she sees Dylan again. He isn’t the same boy she left behind. No, Dylan is now a sexy man who is apologizing profusely for causing so much trouble for Camille. Camille can only see the childish ways of Dylan and thinks he only wants to cause trouble, so why can’t she stop thinking about him. Can Camille really believe Dylan has changed or are they doomed to be enemies forever? Andie did a fantastic job with this one and I can’t wait to start the next.
I’m not a fan of novellas, in fact I can only think of a handful of novellas that I didn’t hate with a passion.
Balls has now been added to that exclusive list!
The whole premise of this book had me chuckling and that’s exactly what I did from start to finish.
Andie’s brilliant witty and sarcastic humour shines through each of these characters and I was instantly comfortable and engaged. I laughed both with these characters and at their hilarious antics, the humour was effortless.
I loved Camille, she felt real and normal and the daft stuff that happened could totally have happened to me lol. Dylan is perfect!! There’s a bit of an ownership battle going on over Dylan in the book community but I’m laying out there again…. DIBS!!!
Everything about this Novella worked, the banter between Camille and Dylan was both funny and sexy. The sibling bickering between Camille and Tyler was bloody genius and Camille’s mom was brilliant!!
This was a great, funny, easy read and I can’t wait for Snow Balls the next book in this series.
This is the story of Camille and an old school bully Dylan. Camille hated Dylan for gaining her the name Camille Toe ( camel Toe ) back in her school days. Camille is now returning to her home town to open an indoor childrens play area. After Dylan tries to say sorry like a million times can Camille ever forgive the grown up sexy looking man especially after disaster strikes again. This is a quick, fun and very witty read. There is quite a few laugh out loud moments where you think omg the British are mad in their slang talk. However don't despair it comes with a glossary at the front so you can decipher everything. Unfortunately I am not a fan of short mini novella series and will only usually ever read novellas within a series if they are a much needed part. However I don't think anyone will be disappointed in the laughing factor with this one.
Just finished reading Balls about ten minutes ago and I'm still smiling. What can I say? I thought it was fab. I laughed throughout and swooned at the right places.
Dylan is hot. Camille is hilarious. Oooh. And she has a best friend.... Called Beth. (Boom! Bitches!)
My camel ball mentioned writing a book about balls when the camel ball authors was created. I laughed with her when she first said about it, but this finished novella is everything you could want wrapped up in a little bow. I devoured this story in a few hours.
Camel ball, you've done me and the camel ball author group proud (even if it's just us two in it!). I can't wait to get my hands on Snow Balls!!
I collected a paperback copy of this book direct from the author at a book signing in Leeds.
This was a very quick and lighthearted read, which I enjoyed in the sunshine. Being a Northerner like the characters and author I loved the local terms being used as most books these days tend to bow down and revert to Americanisms. There's nothing wrong with that of course, but it was nice seeing Northern English terms in a book. This book will give readers a giggle, some hot encounters and a "oh no they didn't" moment or two. Hats off to Ms Long for packing so much into a novella without it feeling rushed.
The title and the cover along are what sold me on this story. I mean who doesn't love ball bits? And with a title like that I just had to find out more.
This was a quick enjoyable read and it had some really good moments. I did like how the girls got revenge on one of the guys. Oh I didn't see that coming. However in some parts it just felt a little rushed for one and would have loved to read more about these characters. Also the ending left me wanting more.
I will be reading the next book and hopefully I get to discover more about all theses characters. I think they have a lot to offer.
What a fab read. Firstly it was brill to read a good book set in the UK, as much as I love most of the books I read that are set in the US there was something refreshing about this. Secondly I loved the vocab list at the front and how half of the words there were to describe idiot, who knew we were had so many words to describe one sentiment! Lastly it had me laughing out loud throughout which makes for my opinion of it being a fabulous read.
This was a very quick read for myself.over all there were funny parts and then there were also some serious parts too. But saying that it was a refreshing read and thank you to the author for putting her cheat guide to English slang in there hat was helpful and funny to read too. Could it have been longer probably could it be a little more into after Camille and Dlyan got together finally yes do I hope to see another book with them as the focus I hope so
Absolutely loved this book. A real standout thanks to its down to earth characters, realistic Northern dialogue and wicked sense of humour. Laugh out loud gets used way too often these days, but this book most definitely brought out plenty of guffaws thanks to the banter and antics within. Smart, funny, and sexy. Bravo Andie, a great book.
This was on okay read for me. I thought Camille was acting immaturely by holding on to the grudge from high school but she is also young, 21, so it's understandable. However, considering how she was holding on to that grudge, the speed with which she got together with Dylan was a little off. Also, too many misunderstandings for such a short story.
Balls have a brand new meaning!!! Loved every single word, it's funny, witty, sexy, the characters are fun and easy to relate to, the story line is fresh and new and fast paced. This book has it all!!!
This is a fun short book. The humiliating things that happen to us in high school or throughout life really affect us. It is the theme of this story but in a humorous way.
This is a British book and the author provides a list of Yorkshire slang. That is interesting all by itself. Camille is a strong woman. She owns her own business. Her life is about to get interesting. Should I say more interesting? There are so many places where the book is funny and a few that are sad. You might need tissues. I managed not to need them.
Told from Camille's POV this story is really cute but moving too fast for my liking.
The Story: After finishing University, Camille is moving back into her hometown with a tingling feeling in her tummy. After school she was so glad to leave everything behind especially Dylan Ball who made school life hell for her. Since he posted a picture of her in really tight shorts with the caption 'Camille Toe', Camille wanted nothing more than to be swallowed from earth. Now she is back and hopes to have a new start and is successful with her business. When she goes to the bank to cash in a check, she runs into Dylan Ball. The boy from school changed into a hot man but Camille can't put the anger aside that bubbles up when seeing him because all the memories about how he made school hell for her are coming back. But when Dylan has his mind set on something he doesn't back down that easily. He wants to show Camille that he isn't the annoying kid from school anymore. He knows now that what he did to her as wrong, and he is sorry about it.
Thoughts: It's a nice short story but moving really fast , e.g. Some parts were fun to read especially when Camille and Dylan talked and you noticed that he had a thing for her and she found him rather hot but was still mad at him for what he did to her in school. The thing with Jake and Beth and Susie was a lot of fun and the double date as well. Dylan was so sweet especially because
I think this story has a lot of potential but could have been better. Though it's easy to say that I liked almost everything when Dylan was involved. Gg He got me wrapped around his little finger. =P
