**"The Selkie Wife" is a fanfiction story based on the fairy tale of the same name.**
Set during the reign of "Bloody Mary" Tudor. Bella is a selkie captured by Edward to raise his daughter. He promises to release her one day, but will he? Court intrigues and danger around every corner. Can they, and their new-found love, survive?
Lissa Bryan is an astronaut, renowned Kabuki actress, Olympic pole vault gold medalist, Iron Chef champion, and scientist who recently discovered the cure for athlete's foot.... though only in her head. Real life isn't so interesting, which is why she spends most of her time writing.
She is the author of four novels, Ghostwriter, Under These Restless Skies,The End of All Things and its sequel, Land of the Shadow. She has short stories in Romantic Interludes and Tales from the End.
This is another of Lissa's wonderful fanfictions. It was very creative, weaving historic facts from the time of Queen Mary with the fantasies of both Twilight and the Irish selkie myths. Bravo, Lissa.

If you recognized the names then you probably realize what source this is a fanfiction of but don't let that deter you from reading this. Lissa Bryan's writing is absolutely spectacular and she's the reason why I went headfirst into reading so many Twilight fanfictions because how refreshing and engaging her writing is. (I only started because I wanted to see how bad the writing for the fanfictions would be considering their source but that is another story)
The premise is pretty interesting from the start and of course, from the beginning Edward and Bella don't get along. It's a slow burn story but it absolutely adds to the story with the way they're slowly drawn together. Something else that Lissa Bryan did was research a lot. Every little detail in the story, from what they were wearing, to the history that happens during the time of the story is woven in carefully so there are no loose holes in the family. If you're a history lover, I would recommend this story because it shows a lot of areas in English history and what would happen if this was a true story.
