HARD BITE and BITE HARDER are coming home. For years now, the e-books and the paperbacks have been split between publishers in UK and the US. Now, I'm proud that the whole family will be with Down & Out Books, helmed by Eric Campbell.

The name "Anonymous-9" came about because I wasn't sure if my experimental stories would be accepted. But they were. Tragic, comic and hardboiled are words that apply to my work. Uncanny Books released my Lovecraftian tribute of action, adventure and horror called DREAMING DEEP. In 2014 I self-published CRASHING THROUGH MIRRORS, a hardboiled novelette set in the music biz of Los Angeles. It was named a Top Crime Read of 2014 alongside Joe Lansdale, Karin Slaughter and Matthew McBride by Just a Guy Who likes to

It was one of those things where Dean's voice came loud and clear in my head, so I sat down and let the voice write itself. It started as a short story and I guess I just got quiet enough and alone enough to get in touch with that part of myself. Sensory deprivation is helpful when I write. I guess before the voice came, I wanted to get across the idea that no matter how weak your body is, a strong mind is the ultimate weapon. I also really like seeing bad people get punished, so I devised a man who had reason enough to get away with it.

Regarding movie and TV, if you know any producers, there is a lean, mean, and much-polished film script available for option/sale. Just message me. I also don't have an agent, so all the marketing for the film stuff is on me at present.

Thanks for asking. Chris!(less)

Thanks for figgering out how to pose the question on this here newfangled software... :-) Will there be a book signing? Short answer is yes. Long answer is that the e-book will come out a little ahead of the paperback so the signing may come later, say November-ish. Thanks for asking Jerry, you'll be the first to know, too.(less)

Rock 'n Roll is Not a Crime
S.W. Lauden put this together with the Mystery Writers of America. We'll be at the Burbank Library debating how crime writing and rock go hand in hand. Oh yeah! Read all about it here...

“The best books act like a powerful drug--they take you out of your own head into experiences, emotions and settings a million miles away.”

“Acting is all about honesty. If you can fake that, you got it made.”
Anonymous-9, Hard Bite

“Love learns to respect others. Love never fails. Love endures everything. Love is not rude. Love sends out prayers to others in love.”

“The illusion of the seventh veil was the illusion that you could get somebody else to do it for you. To think for you. To hang on your cross. The priest, the rabbi, the imam, the swami, the philosophical novelist were traffic cops, at best. They might direct you through a busy intersection, but they wouldn't follow you home and park your car.”
Tom Robbins, Skinny Legs and All

“We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it.”
Edward R. Murrow

“It's okay, baby" she said. "We all bounce till we break.”
John Rector, The Cold Kiss

“NO reader has ANY obligation to an author, whether it be to leave a review or to write a "constructive" one. I put out a product. You are consumers of that product. Since when does that mean you have to kiss my ass? Hey, I like Pop-Tarts and eat them a few times a year; since when does that mean I'm obligated to support Kellogg's in any way except legally purchasing the Pop-Tarts before I eat them? I wasn't aware that purchasing and consuming a product meant I was under some sort of fucking thrall in which I'm only allowed to either praise the Pop-Tart (which to be honest isn't hard, especially the S'mores flavor) or, if I am going to criticize a flavor, offer a specific and detailed analysis as to why, phrased in as inoffensive and gentle a manner as possible so as not to upset the gentle people at Kellogg's."
