It will also be a handbook for readers to learn how to engage more with music both for themselves, and for their children and in their communities. (less)

In the process, I kept finding quotes from Baha'u'llah and 'Abdu'l-Bahá about this deeply mystical concept that the teachings of God are sung to humanity. I was so intrigued that I tried to find more and more until I ended up with 140 pages of quotes on the subject. It's so fascinating and I hope you, the reader, will enjoy them too. (less)

“While there are already compilations on both Music5 and the Arts,6 numerous passages in the Writings refer to the Word of God as a melody. A search through the Bahá’í Writings reveals a multitude of passages where the Word of God is described
as music being warbled by such creatures as the Mystic Dove, the Dove of Truth or of Utterance, the Nightingale of Paradise or of Holiness, the Bird of Heaven, of Eternity, or of Holiness, the Spirit of God, or sung by His wondrous, His sublime, His all-compelling, His clear, and most eloquent Voice.”
Lorraine Manifold, The Divine Melody: Song of the Mystic Dove

“As more local Houses of Worship are built, an exponential number of Bahá’í choirs will likely form, aligning with Shoghi Effendi’s encouragement for choirs to sing in the Houses of Worship. Singing in a House of Worship is an unforgettable experience that unites singers around one common goal, causes hearts to beat as one and lifts the spirits of both singers and audience up the rungs of a spiritual ladder towards the heavens.”

“‎"The more we search for ourselves, the less likely we are to find ourselves; and the more we search for God, and to serve our fellow-men, the more profoundly will we become acquainted with ourselves, and the more inwardly assured. This is one of the great spiritual laws of life." (From a letter written on behalf of Shoghi Effendi to an individual believer, February 18, 1954)”
Shoghi Effendi

“When music fails to agree to the ear, to soothe the ear and the heart and the senses, then it has missed its point.”
Maria Callas

“Arts Council England estimates that every ₤1 of salary paid by the arts and culture industry generates an additional ₤2.01 in the wide economy by “attracting visitors; creating jobs and developing skills; attracting and retaining businesses revitalizing places; and developing talent.”
Patrick Kabanda, The Creative Wealth of Nations: Can the Arts Advance Development?

“in a process that could be called “where trust leads, development follows,” “New research in economics shows that one important trait that helps a nation or a community prosper economically is trust.”
