Large, life size, solid (not plated) raw brass cicadas hang from a hand hammered pure copper rings on solid sterling silver ear hooks. These wonderfully detailed cicada earrings have a realistic look in an antique style. These earrings are a good size, but very light weight. I added a patina to enhance the antique feel and highlight the texture. Sterling silver and brass are metals that will tarnish and react to their environment. Proper storage can help prevent this. Keeping your jewelry in an airtight container is best, as the air and humidity can speed up tarnish. Wearing your pieces as much as possible will help keep them tarnish free as your skins natural oils help protect the metals from tarnishing. Polishing occasionally by rubbing or with a sterling silver polish will help remove any dullness or tarnish.
