- The Valar hold council in Máhanaxar, for Yavanna and Oromë report Melkor might rise once more in his power. They discuss the Children of Ilúvatar and whether to bring light to Middle-earth.[1][2]
- Over the next fifty years Varda uses the light from Telperion to fashion new stars and organize them (and those already wrought) into constellations. The greatest of these constellations is the Menelmacar, the Swordsman of the Sky.[1][2]
- In his impatience for the coming of the Children, Aulë creates in secret the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves. Ilúvatar reprimands him, but in the end adopts his creations. However, Ilúvatar orders Aulë to put them to sleep in various places across Middle-earth until the Awakening of the Firstborn.[3][4]
