—Zharov's battle quote
Zharov is the boss of Chapter 10 in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. He a Grustian general that is put in charge of Castle Deil, a citadel in Archanea.
Profile[]
Shadow Dragon[]
Zharov appears stationed at the fortress east of Castle Deil, where the Macedonian princess Maria is being held captive. Her older sister Princess Minerva, requests to see Maria, but Zharov denies her, as to remind Minerva that her cooperation dictates how comfortable Maria stays. Marth and his army then arrive at the citadel to free Maria, by Minerva's request, and Zharov is defeated by the allied Marth and Minerva.
Fire Emblem: Ankokuryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi[]
Zharov's role in the manga is expanded a little, but still maintaining his position as in the game and its remakes. Princess Minerva requests that he allows her to see Princess Maria in her cell but is quickly denied as he serves only Michalis. He confirms to Minerva that Michalis was the one who told him if she showed herself to Castle Deil, Zharov's only option is to "politely send her home". Upon hearing Michalis' name, this angers Minerva greatly to reach for her sword and strike Zharov, but is halted when a few soldiers surround her. Just then, another soldier interrupts, informing about the Altean army's arrival which concludes their meeting and forcing Minerva to comply fighting alongside Zharov's troops for Maria's safety.
Zharov does not actually die in the manga. Upon his defeat to the Altean army, he is taken prisoner for interrogation with Julian and Rikard keeping watch over him. Gordin then enters the room insisting Julian to release him. Displeasing Julian denies about letting him live, however, Gordin confirms that Zharov's soldiers have already abandoned him and the fortress has been cleaned out, giving Zharov nowhere to run even after his release. His fate is unknown after this point.

Trivia[]
- Besides weapon rank (which enemies did not have in the SNES versions), he is statistically identical to Harmein, another one of Minerva's leaders.
- Castle Deil, where Zharov is stationed with holding Princess Maria prisoner, is also the same location where Beck was defeated before he deserted to a village in the border of Grust in Chapter 13.
