The Ganelon Bandits are a group of bandits fought in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.

Overview[]

The Ganelon Bandits are encountered during the early parts of Lyn's story. Still seething from the massacre of her parents and the rest of the Lorca tribe, Lyn sees them as no better than the Taliver Bandits responsible for the massacre. However, Migal argues that while the Ganelon Bandits do capture and sell women and children, they do not kill indiscriminately as the Taliver Bandits do.

The hierarchy of the Ganelon Bandits and the identity of their leader is not made clear. When first encountered, Dorcas is working as a mercenary for them in order to earn money to provide treatment for his injured wife Natalie, but he defects upon learning that Lyn's forces are protecting her from the very same bandits.

Etymology[]

The name Ganelon comes from French history. Ganelon was the brother in law of Charlemagne and step-father to Charlemagne's favorite paladin, Roland. Ganelon was a respected knight who betrayed Charlemagne to an army of Spanish Muslims, leading to the Battle of Ronceveaux Pass, the subject of the Song of Roland.
