In 2013 you were one of the top 300 medical editors across any language of Wikipedia. Thank you so much for helping bring free, complete, accurate, up-to-date medical information to the public. We really appreciate you and the vital work you do! |
We are wondering about the educational background of our top medical editors. Would you please complete a quick 5-question survey? (please only fill this out if you received the award)
Thanks again :) --Ocaasi, Doc James and the team at Wiki Project Med Foundation

Jacob Barnett
Sad to note your 180 degree U-turn at Jacob Barnett, especially your attacks on his mother. There is ongoing interest, and reliable media coverage, in what you had previously called "this important case". It had been correctly upheld twice per WP policy. I cannot see what has changed since then, other than that those who argued for its deletion at previous AfD's have stuffed it with material which violates BLP. - Firstly, I did not "attack" his mother. I simply pointed out that she wrote a book about him and made claims while on her book tour that got the media hype started. That's not an attack on someone, that's just reciting the facts. Secondly, the issue back in 2014 when I commented was whether or not Sandstein had correctly closed the AfD with a 'Keep" and the issue was whether it should be overturned. That was three years ago. With the passage of time, it has become apparent that Jacob Barnett is not notable on his own.
- As I stated in my comment on the AfD, he has not distinguished himself other than being very smart. His mother claims he's proven Einstein is wrong and is on track for a Nobel Prize, which in turn brought out the incredible media hype. He's not proven Einstein is wrong, and he's not on track for a Nobel Prize. His story was unfortunately hyped beyond proportion, and as I said in my comments, he's not notable on his own, his situation was a one-off WP:BLP1E, he's not an WP:academic, and any achievements are yet to come, WP:TOOSOON. You have to go by policy and not any emotional attachment or personal belief that the lad deserves a Wikipedia article despite not meeting the guidelines. As for the media coverage, it bears out all my points. The lad has not done anything to warrant it. It's his mother's hype that's brought the media coverage. SW3 5DL (talk) 04:27, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
