WikiProject Film is a WikiProject dedicated to building a comprehensive and detailed guide to films on Wikipedia. Our goals are to standardize the film articles in Wikipedia, improve Wikipedia coverage of films by adding, expanding and improving film articles, and serve as a central point of discussion for issues related to Wikipedia film articles.

Flankk uses Wikipedia extensively for learning and quick fact-checking. He sometimes has the time to make significant contributions. However, he often will make small corrections and revert blatant vandalism. He does not vandalize pages, so if you disagree with one of his edits, take it up with him on his talk page. Politically, he sways towards the libertarian perspective.

As a new member of WikiProject Films, I'm contributing by ensuring all film-related pages have an infobox; how exciting! If you'd like to participate in this project, look no further.

I am writing a bot to aid in creation of film infoboxes. The name of the bot is Fobox. The bot is written in Python and, once stable, will automatically create infoboxes for all film-related stubs. The bot uses IMDbPY to read from a local database copy of IMDb. Also, the bot uses the PyWikipediaBot to interface with Wikipedia.

It will be a policy of the bot to exclude information instead of including false or mangled data. Since this bot will be adding large amounts of information to Wikipedia, I will be very careful in enforcing this policy. After extensive testing, I will get this bot approved and release it to the wild. When relative stability is reached, I will probably release the source under the GNU General Public License.
