Encyclopedic comment
I received a comment on my User Page concerning "quote lists." The quotes by Berra were authentic, from various books which I have now, and some were from Baseball Digest magazine, circa 1963-64. I'm not sure what you mean by "encyclopedic content," but I will cite the book or Baseball Digest if that's what you wanted...

child hood - clarification
I just read that Yogi left school after 8th grade to support his family. Additionally, there's a reference to a school (South Side Catholic) he went to that's now known as St. Mary's high school; i'm assuming that it was a primary/grammar school back in Yogi's era, and over the years became a high school. 2nd paragraph -- https://www.authenticmanhood.com/blog/20-great-yogi-berra-quotes; not sure if this is a good enough source...if there's any supporting documentation, that would be of interest. 2603:7081:2602:DB00:55C0:E2F1:1311:A2D2 (talk) 17:40, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
Retirement of Number 8
If the number was retired previously, why was it returned to use for Berra?Alexander Springstea (talk) 00:03, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- The number 8 continued in use after Bill Dickey's retirement. When the Yankees retired it after Berra's retirement, the two were officially honored jointly. Baseball Reference lists the number's history with the New York Yankees as:
- Yogi Berra (1948-1963, RET)
- Aaron Robinson (1945-1947)
- Bill Dickey (1930-1946, RET)
- Johnny Lindell (1944-1945)
- Johnny Grabowski (1929)
