Sophist
What do you actually know about Critical Thinking? You better state some major qualifications for this ridiculous reduction of my edit. Without a cohort of professors backing your risky business, you'd better step down. You do understand a sophist makes a business out of critical thinking, whilst a philosopher volunteers for the love of learning? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.48.16.95 (talk) 08:30, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- You first. Who are you and why are you such an expert on this? I admit who I am right here on this user page, but you are hiding behind an anonymous IP address. --Krelnik (talk) 17:09, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
scale
There's no scale; "The goal of critical thinking is to arrive at the most reasonable beliefs and take the most reasonable actions." It's either reasonable or it's not. There's no grey zone. The grey zone is unreasonable, illogical and a fallacy. A critical thought is clear, defined, proven and judged.49.48.16.95 (talk) 08:39, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Lometa Odom
Hello! Your submission of Lometa Odom at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! —Bagumba (talk) 10:19, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: Thanks for the heads up! I have addressed all of the issues you identified, even adding two new sources to the article to help support one sentence I reworded. I also reworded that hook you said was misleading. --Krelnik (talk) 15:17, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in study
Hello,
I am E. Whittaker, an intern at Wikimedia with the Scoring Team to create a labeled dataset, and potentially a tool, to help editors deal with incivility when they encounter it on talk pages. A full write-up of the study can be found here: m:Research:Civil_Behavior_Interviews. We are currently recruiting editors to be interviewed about their experiences with incivility on talk pages. Would you be interested in being interviewed? I am contacting you because of your involvement in Wikipedia’s Women in Red project. The interviews should take ~1 hour, and will be conducted over BlueJeans (which does allow interviews to be recorded). If, so, please email me at ewhit@umich.edu in order to schedule an interview.

Freethought - apology
Hi, I reverted you yesterday at Freethought accidentally - I was attempting to revert the version that you had just reverted, and I must have got my Twinkle in a twist. Thanks also to Editor2020 for fixing my goof. Cheers, GirthSummit (blether) 06:21, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit: Oh, thanks! Yeah I was kind of scratching my head at your edit, but thought maybe there was some reason for it that I didn't fathom. (My personal policy is if something someone did seems confusing, I let it go and maybe revisit later - this avoids lots conflict, which we all need less of). Thanks for coming back to update me! --Krelnik (talk) 10:47, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message
Hello, Krelnik. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Invitiation
I hope you will check out Wikipedia:WikiProject_Basketball/Women's_basketball. It isn't quite as active as I would like, but if we reach critical mass someday, perhaps it will be more active.--S Philbrick(Talk) 16:25, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- Will do! I kind of stumbled into this topic, its not been a focus for me before (although my father-in-law is an NBA coach). I was trying to find redlinks to work on via the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and went down a rabbit-hole of these unsung heroes of the AAU basketball era of 1930s-1960s or so. Lots of good people to create bios for, many of them are Pan American medalists and thus easily pass notability. --Krelnik (talk) 17:30, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

I am new so please forgive any clumsiness. I am seeking a forum to discuss intuition and its use in understanding any question by anyone. If this "talk"is such a place to discuss intuition, please add to my post.

Hello! Your submission of Mary Schenck Woolman at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Binksternet (talk) 00:39, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

Don Colbert Page
The updates to the Don Colbert page are not copyright infringement as the changes were made on behalf of Don and Mary Colbert and Divine Health directly by request. The previous biographical information was fake and offensive to the Colbert Family. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JSP0421 (talk • contribs) 12:39, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- @JSP0421: If you made the changes upon the request of the subject of the article, then by Wikipedia's rules you have a conflict of interest in editing the article. It doesn't matter if they simply asked you to do it as a favor, if you have a connection to the subject that is a COI. It is recommended that you disclose your connection as directed in an edit to your user page so everyone can be clear. I have already put a {{connected contributor}} tag on the talk page of the article so other editors can see what is going on.
- Now that this conflict of interest is public information, the correct way to proceed is to request the changes you attempting to make on the talk page of the Don Colbert article. You can click New Section at the top. Then other editors can discuss it with you and reach a compromise. But please be patient.
- As for the copyright violation I pointed out in my reversion of your edits, that is still an issue. The problem is that Wikipedia cannot take your word for it on that it is ok to copy text wholesale from Don Colbert's website. That could expose Wikipedia to a copyright infringement lawsuit. The best way to proceed is to find ways to reword the material so that it isn't a direct copy of sentences on the Colbert website. Because of that, immediately after I post this to you I'm going to revert your edit once again. Please do not undo that again or you may fall under the rules involving edit warring and some other editor might block your account. --Krelnik (talk) 19:37, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Krelnik: Are you able to at least remove that he is a "Pentecostal writer" and that "he is a specialist in faith healing" these are inaccurate statements and offensive to the Colbert family? Thank you!
- @JSP0421: I did remove "Pentecostal", as I see no support for that in the sources. However, I looked around on the Colbert website and I see verbiage talking about "healing power of prayer" and that "faith can affect your health". Is there some offensive meaning of "faith healing" that I don't get that is different than that? --Krelnik (talk) 05:15, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Krelnik: Thank you for that update! "Faith Healing", as defined by Wikipedia "is the practice of prayer and gestures (such as laying on of hands) that are believed by some to elicit divine intervention in spiritual and physical healing." Dr. Colbert however is an actual educated MD and uses science and proven medicine to work with his patients. He just does all his work in God's honor. Are you able to see the difference and how an actual MD could be offended by the term "faith healing"?
- @JSP0421: For whatever reason, the powers that be have noticed our discussion here and your topic at the BLP noticeboard and have decided to open a deletion discussion. It seems likely the article on Don Colbert will be deleted. I'm not of the "deletionist" bent, I would rather the article be fixed and stay, but I'm not in the majority here. --Krelnik (talk) 17:22, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
I have to ask, do you have a wp:coi, as you seem to have been engaging in off wiki advocacy?Slatersteven (talk) 08:48, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Slatersteven: Off wiki advocacy in regards to what? I have written blog posts in the past recommending that people get involved in Wikipedia, and giving advice on how to go about becoming proficient, yes. But if you've been looking at my blog it should be clear that I have not posted on it in over 5 years at this point. I certainly haven't been engaging in any off-wiki advocacy involving the Don Colbert page or deletion, as you may notice I seem to be in the utter minority on that issue. You can also view my edit history and see that most of the work I do these days has to do with Women in Red, and the only off-wiki stuff I do regarding that is occasionally promote the project on social media. --Krelnik (talk) 11:45, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:44, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
