Dress uniform

A dress uniform was a variant of a standard uniform often worn for special occasions and formality, such as courts martial, delivering speechs, dinner parties, funerals, greeting of ambassadorial delegations and heads of state, and weddings.

They were known for causing discomfort when worn. (TOS: "Journey to Babel"; TNG: "Liaisons")

Ensign Beckett Mariner once chided Brad Boimler for wearing his dress uniform during an envoy mission, stating "Ooh, nice dress uniform. You getting married after this?" (LD: "Envoys")
