[edit]DescriptionWWI Victory Liberty Loan Medallion.jpg |
English: 1919 WWI "Victory Liberty Loan" steel medallion made from "captured German cannon" awarded by the U.S. Treasury Department for "patriotic service in behalf of the Liberty Loans". Medallion is one-and-one-quarter inches in diameter. Obverse depicts the U.S. Treasury Department building located opposite the White House in Washington, DC. The steel came from melted down German cannon that had been captured by American troops at Château-Thierry in NW France and the medallions were then awarded by the Department to Victory Liberty Loan campaign volunteers.
