Object history Die Urne, 1823 in der Gemarkung „Lindenflur“ ausgegraben, weist auf die vor- und frühgeschichtliche Besiedlung des Ortes auch als römischer Vicus hin. Hifthorn, Muschel uns Sparrenschrägbalken stammen aus dem Wappen des Metternich-Winneburg-Beilstein`schen Geschlechts; deren Zeichen sind in den Gerichtssiegeln von 1749 und 1761 enthalten. Das Geschlecht hatte die Herrschaft und große Besitzungen im Ort. Das Weistum von 1494 bestätigt ihnen die Hochgerichtsbarkeit, Jagd- und Forstrechte. 1652 kam das Gericht an die Freiherren von Metternich.
